Targeted Mail

I sent Newfie a pipe tobacco sampler a few days ago and today the box was returned as "Targeted" for security reasons.

I mailed the package from a local retail postal outfit, and the sticker on the returned package has a sticker telling me to present the package to a retail clerk at a post office due to heightened security measures.

Anybody else run into this?

I haven't heard of it before, but I am waiting several packages from State-side, and I did get dinged by Customs on one, so that may be an explaination.

Then again, I got two today, both from Washington, DC.

Its probably just because it had to go through customs. I'm sure they opened it up and made a judgement call and decided to send it back, especially with the pot game in Canada. A pain in the ass, but better safe than sorry I guess.

I was thinking about this..did they even bother to refund your cost for postage? Seems since they sent it back to you and it didn't go where you paid for it to that they should give your $ back...

I don't think so. I had a package come through Customs last week that I got dinged on, so they're letting tobacco through.

Shit, I sure hope so. If they didn't, let me know and I'll fix it up.

Yeah I sent some a couple of packages through customs, and even wrote "cigars" on the slip, with no problems. I guess what I was saying is maybe when they looked at they just thought it looked weird since it was pipe tobacco and decided to send it back.
