Old Virginia are some great guys, and JB Hayes went way out of their way to help me out. They also give you empty boxes in exchange for a $2 charity donation

    I actually kinda miss VA...

Everyone I know has something going on this particular weekend! I might actually be going up to NYC on saturday to sunday, maybe. However, I'd love to get together friday night or sunday night. Maybe Shelley's backroom? Its a cigar bar with a restaurant. A couple of us have Herf'd there before.
The in addition to the shops listed by Pyro and Maui, there is Signiture cigars in Bethesda and DC. They have a pretty good selection. My personal favorite is Bethesda Tabacco and Drappers. Drappers closes at 6 i think on weekdays and is open till 3pm on saturday.

Drapper's isn't open on Sunday, but OVTC is, and so is Bethesda Tobacco. I'd be down for sunday afternoon sometime, but I'll be coming back from NYC, so I'm not sure if I'd be there in time. Let me know what time y'all are planning on for Sunday and then I can figure out if its do-able. I'd push for mid afternoon if I can, I'm meeting a good friend from Colorado at my other good friends place in NYC to watch the CU/CSU football game and then try and relive college, no telling when I'd be able to bus back down here.

CigarDan and I are apparently doing shifts down to DC. :)

I'll be a little busy while I'm down there, but I plan to spend Tuesday night going for a long walk downtown. Let me know if you're interested...

BTW, how's the security situation downtown? Am I going to be harrassed if I wander around the monuments at night?

You shouldn't be bothered, there will be a lot of people around doing the same thing. I'd be into meeting up with you on Tuesday evening, let me know what you plan is.

Well it was a great time in DC. Herfed with mauied1101 among others at a great BBQ and charity event. Paul is a great guy and it was nice to finally meet him in person.

Charity pulled in about $1100 for the huricane relief to be sent to Red Cross and everyone won some nice items at the same time.

Got to see our capital on Sunday although quickly while driving around the city.

Stopped by Bethesda Tobacco and Old Virginia ( Pentagon Fashion Center ) although not huge stores the people were great. I was hoping to score some Opus X but both were out. But made it up intead by grabbing an ESG at Old Virginia. Better be a good cigar scored for $20 only $2 above MSRP. Oh yeah those who want to try one that store still had an almost full box as of yesterday.

Overall great people great food great cause great cigars = GREAT EXPERIENCE !!!!!!!!!!!!!

I got a chance to meet up with SuperChuck last night in Dc and have a few cigars. He is a good guy, and I hope that he'll be seeing more of DC in the future. I hope your travel home is a safe one. Take care, Brian.

    Hey guys,
Did a search and this seemed to be the most recent post about DC shops. I am heading up there tomorrow for the weekend to see my sister. I was wondering if I could get an update on the cigar situation up there.

    Who has the best prices?

    Who has the best selection?

    Who has the best experience?

    Where do I go?

She lives on 29th NW I think...

    Thanks for your help.

For experience -- I usually hit Shelly's Back Room for drinks and a cigar -- sometimes dinner as well (there are better places to eat). Cigars there are overpriced, but nice place, almost always a good time. Shelly's is on F by 14th or 15th.

Bethesda Tobacco is having its grand opening on friday, not sure when you are getting into town. I have heard that Shelly's is a great place to visit (but not to shop) I have yet to go there personally. Let me know if your gonna have some free time and want to meet up for a smoke.

BenjiM, sorry I missed this post, but I have been very busy with work.

I hope you were able to go to Draper's. They have a GREAT selection of smokes and just a block away from Shelly's.

Next time you are in town, give me a heads up and I can gather some local BOTLs and meet up at Draper's and eat some grub at Shelly's.

Hope you had a good time.
