bullet cutter

i just bought a bullet cutter and have never used one before. Just wondering if all i do is push it through? or do i twist it or anything else?

rotate it gently and don't press too hard. well, that's what i've done

alright thanks, i bought it for the "chopped filler?" cigars, because i seem to get more pieces in my teeth and such, and figured this would stop the problem. I believe its called chopped filler, i'm not really sure.

Drake hit it right on!! You want to rotate it AND gently push it at the same time.

Resist the temptation to tap the cutter on a table to remove the cut cap material that winds up in the cutter as this will dull the cutter and ruin it in no time. I pick this out with the end of a key or a paper clip.

I have a bullet cutter on my keychain, with me all the time. That way I always have one with me, just in case.

Mine is nice because you pop off the cutter, gently twist and push into the cap, and then after you're all done - by putting it back onto the keychain it pops out the piece of cap, cleaning it up for next time.

The "chop" filler you're talking about, I believe, is called a "short" filler. Long filler cigars are full leaves rolled into the cigar. Short filler is cut up tobacco, rolled into the cigar. Generally, those cigars are a bit cheaper, and not as nice as the long fillers. One of my favorite short filler cigars is the La Vieja Habana's made by Drew Estate. They're reasonably priced, and a not bad "yard gar" (for smoking while I do yard work).

I've got to imagine that using a punch will help the problem of picking small pieces of tobacco out of your mouth. I have that problem with just about every cigar I smoke, even long filler. The punch does tend to funnel the smoke, increasing the intensity of the cigar. I've also had problems, from time to time, of tar building up and plugging the hole.

there ya go, wasnt sure if short and chopped filler were the same (think chopped is short and long mixed), but yeah, the one cheaper cigar i smoke is both long and short filler. I like the double bladed guillotine on the other cigars, i don't seem to get pieces in my mouth unless its the short filler. But hopefully the bullet clears that problem

I have that same kind of punch that pops out the piece when your done...i like that.

I have found that when tar plugs the hole, reinserting the punch clears it most times.
