Thread: The New Cigar Magazine

  1. Default

I picked up an issue at one of my locals... Not a bad little magazine. They seem very interested in getting good, accountable ratings...

Default This IS the one put out by JR Cigar, yes?

I can't recall the exact details, but it seems to me that a few years ago Lew Rothman had a falling out with Cigar Afficionado Magazine. It may have been over a bad review of one of his private brand cigars. I'm not sure.

So I wasn't surprised when I got an offer in the mail last year for a subscription and sampler deal from JR's for th new mag. JR's is striking back with their own magazine.

I haven't seen the magazine yet but from what I've heard its well done.

I also recall one time Lew R made a comment about how Cigar Afficionado's magazine and reviews are skewed according to their advertisers. Of course other folks have also voiced the same opinion and this is a free country totally run by big business.....so...

But what's a little funny is that Cigar Magazine I'm sure will only be advertising and reviewing cigars that are sold by JR's and I doubt they'd call a JR Alt a dog rocket! Talk about being hypocritical!

I'm sure though that each mag has articles of interest. IMHO CA is too hoitey-toitey and pompous. SMOKE Magazine is pretty cool but I'm sure they also fall into the advertising thing as any woul

It's actually a very informative magazine. I have received 3 so far and enjoyed it.
