    Default Compare Our Cigars To:

Just wondering if anyone had tried one of those "alternative to:" cigars. I picked up three today out of curiosity. I got the JR alternative Cohiba Robusto, an Arturo Fuente, and then a Maduro reject down at my local shop. Figured it was worth a shot. Paid about 5 bucks for all three. Not too bad.

    Any stories?

My experience with non-JR alternates is that don't taste like what they are the alternate of.

Never had a JR alternate but from what I hear some are pretty good.

My experience with JR Alternatives has been hit and miss. The most realistic in flavor that I have tried so far would be the AF Hemingway Masterpieces, yet they are tight suckas- you either have to cut them really high or give them a poke or two through the length of the cigar. I do really enjoy the JR Ultimates for a couple dollars more.

Bar none, the best alternatives I have ever tried are the La Aurora Preferido Alts available through TNT Cigars. Hella Good.
