30 years of MATASA in perfect harmony.

1974 was a momentous year for Manuel Quesada, the creator of the original Dominican Romeo y Julieta. It was during this year that the MATASA Cigar Factory opened in the Dominican Republic, manufacturing a Dominican-made version of the legendary Fonseca brand of Cuba, a cigar that captured the essence and tradition of Cuba, making it available for the US market. To commemorate this celebrated year, Manuel created the MATASA 30th Anniversary by Fonseca.

The MATASA 30th Anniversary is a perfectly balanced, full-bodied super-premium comprised of specially aged, hand-picked tobaccos. First, the wrapper: an oily Dominican Olor leaf grown on a micro-farm in the lush fields of the Cibao Valley. This exquisite leaf hugs a blend of Dominican-grown, Cuban-seed Ligero from 1995 and a single leaf of Nicaraguan-grown, Cuban-seed Ligero. These vintage tobaccos unite to promote a layer after layer of robust, bold flavors in a buttery smooth fashion.
