    Default Another n00b intro...

Hello all --- I am new here. I recently turned 21 and am beginning to really enjoy cigars. I currently live in California and design websites for a living. My hobbies include fishing, drinking beer, shooting pool, playing poker.

I spent most of my day off looking around for deals on Humidors and Boxes online. Luckily I found this site and realized that the guy who I was going to be buying a Humidor from on eBay was a scam and was selling fake Humidors. Anyways, I hope to stick around on this forum for a while and to learn a lot from everyone.

If you have any recommendations to me as far as good bargains on cheap but quality cigars or a humidor it would be much appreciated! As I said, I am brand new to this and don't want to spend a ton of $ just yet, but I would really like to gain some knowledge and expand my cigar collection!

I found these combo deals mentioned in another thread: http://www.cubancrafters.com/products.php/item_id/280
Please let me know if anyone disagrees on that being a good starter kit. I definitely want a quality Humidor to start off, but the better deal doesn't hurt!

Welcome Cale from a fellow Californian.

That's probably an good starter kit, but if you hang out here for awhile, you're gonna need a bigger humidor.

You are right. The more I think about it, the more I like this deal (which I didn't notice until after my original post): http://www.cubancrafters.com/products.php/item_id/331

Are there any good FAQ's or TIPS pages available on starting a collection (Humidor prep, how to maintain it, etc.)

Be sure to buy some Heartfelt Industries beads. And read up on coolerdors (Igloodors, frigidors, etc.). Unless you buy a 3000 count humidor or build a walk-in, you are going to run out of room. Sooner than you plan. Trust me on that. If you really like cigars, you WILL go overboard and talk yourself into buying way more than... nevermind. Forget I said all that.
Just buy some beads. But just in case -- buy more than you think you'll need.

    Welcome to the club!!!

Thanks for the reply! I took a look at the Heartfelt website because I really had no idea about these beads. So I use these INSTEAD of the humidifier?

    Pretty neat!
