I was surprised not to have seen a thread already in this topic.
I have not been following too closely but apprarently a Dem. Senator became suddenly and seriously ill. Something to do with emergency brain surgery. First off . . . prayers and good thought sent to him, his family and the doctors who are working on bringing him back to health. Anyway . . . from what I have heard if he is not able to return to "duty" the Governor of his state (a Republican) will get to appoint a new Senator. This will end up in a 50/50 with the Republican VP breaking the tie. This would change the balace of power to put the Republicans back in control.
If I have any of the facts wrong or if you can add some please do. I am very interested in not only how he is doing but how this plays out in the Senate. I would also like to know if anyone has heard of any "theories" that this was all caused by Republicans or the Bush Administration.
