Welcome to the forum. I'm gonna go ahead and say what some folks reading might be thinking.
1) How about posting an intro to the site to what you like, why you're here, how long you've been smoking, etc. No need to know your sign, but we'd like to get to know you - unless you're just asking for one-off information, in which case we don't.
2) Use the search function on cigar storage - just like google or yahoo - you'll be surprised to see what you find.
3) (Abridged) answers to your questions:
Storage outside the humi: Depends on where you live (see #1, intro). If you live in the caribbean, sure, why not. If not, for long term purposes, it's good to have them in a controlled environment - that's why when you go to a retail store (B&M), you find single sticks and boxes in the walk-in humidors.
If they dry out - and you don't very quickly realize and rehumidify them, they will taste different, more bad than not. Bad idea.
4) read more, use the search, and hang around.
