So my only chance of getting some brand names for a good price is going to a factory?

you won't be near the fuente, LFD.fonseca,or la aurora factories unless you're going to santiago...you might get product at your hotel if they have a good shop.......why should they give super deals when they know they can get the marked prices??..

I'm going to try to go to La Romana. Hopefully it works out.

Well I didn't make it to any factories, although now I regret it.
I grabbed these from the airport though:
    3 partagas serie D No.4
    5 Davidoff grand cru no.5
    4 domaine avo <20>
    5 private stock no. 5
I was pretty disapointed by the selection, thats about all the brands they had plus cohibas, RYJ and MC (cuban and dominican)

Lots of "cubans" for sale on the beach, especially the glass top variety. There was a stand at the hotel one night with this guy selling cigars. Most of them cohiba, RYJ and MC cubans. He gave me a free MC no. 2 to try. It was actually a pretty good smoke and I enjoyed it so I bought 2 more ($7 for both) because I was running low on smokes. The hotel had La Aura robustos at the gift shop ($7), a bought a couple of them. Nice smokes.
