Well said, brother! I prefer to THINK about the issues, rather than fall into a 'party line' on anything in particular.

Exactly why I don't ally myself with ANY party. I think one of the main factors as to why nothing ever gets accomplished on capitol hill is that those that represent the people are really representing their constituents, and whatever view or agenda they are pushing at current.

What was once a method for the people to self-govern has turned into the senior class president election. The captain of the football team vs. the president of the chess club... the football team will vote for their guy, as the fans will, because he's "our guy" and same for the chess folks... except they'll get votes from people that may not play chess, but don't like football either. The views of either candidate are rendered a moot point as it's come down to a popularity contest, and nothing more.

Show me a candidate that cares about the people, and they have my vote, regardless of party.

Disclaimer: I am not a poli-sci major and the only grasp of the "system" I have is what I've found out during my own research. I claim to be no wiser than anyone else here, and the commentary found above is based on my own personal opinions and nothing more.

Are all Democrats pro-choice and pro-homosexual marriage?
I am a republican and I believe that if a man and a man (that are dating eachother) decide to have an abortion I am for it.

you have to give and take.......a compromise if you will

I know the topic of this thread has been a bit all over the place, but I thought I'd throw this in in a response to a previous (rhetorical?) question.

The PA senators are an interesting mix because the Republican (Arlen Spector) is pro choice, and the democrat (Bob Casey) is pro life.

I always though that was pretty interesting and I'm not sure why it hasn't gotten much press.

Politicians in general can't be trusted to always represent their final goals and ambitions, regardless of political alignment. They speak to the concerns of the audience they are addressing, Republicans and Democrats alike. Our job, as voters, is to sort through all of the inevitable political pandering and hype and make the best choice we can make. Politicians in general do and say what they have to do to promote their agenda, even it means double talk and back pedalling. Maybe not all, but most. Besides, issues change over time and as we are presented with more information, our views should mature. Politicans are no different. They can change their mind just like the rest of us. A view someone held two or three years ago could have legitimately changed based on new information. I'm a Republican and I'm not a fan of Hillary, but she's no worse than any other politician from either side of the aisle.
