Thread: Greetings from Afghanistan...

    Default Greetings from Afghanistan...

Greetings! Name's Road Weazel and my home's in Phoenix, AZ although I'm a US soldier currently stationed in Afghanistan.
Noob here, hobbies include cigars, coffee, music (listening, can't play a note) and firearms. Motorcycles are more of a mental illness than a hobbie for me, I have 11 of them and am already plotting my next two purchases.
I've been smoking cigars for 10 years or so (with a few breaks earlier on) and recently started smoking a pipe as well. I don't 'dip', rarely chew and never smoked cigarettes, those things'll kill ya
Had the wife send my humidor over and man was it dry (I've been gone a while). Seasoned it once and need to hit it again. We don't have distilled water over here so I've been boiling some bottled spring water and using it. Just got my order from Holts so I've got some sticks to put in it. They had my order to me in a week! Not bad considering that the Army took care of a large part of the delivery.
I've surfed the forums a little before signing up. Seems to be some good info available here but I can't get the link for ordering 'beads' to work.
Favourite cigars of mine would be Padron Maduros, Don Thomas Corojo and Cuesta Rey Centro Finos. I like them to have some flavor but not be too harsh. Tried a Rocky Patel Corojo recently and truly enjoyed it. Need to get some more of those! I try to keep my cigars in the $5 range. It seems that every time I spent more $$ on cigars I end up disappointed (there have been exceptions).
    All the best!

Thanx for the warm welcome. I noticed a lot of states that I've been thru in the last year or so. Got a buddy in NYC that lives on Ave A near St. Marks Place. Rode my Triumph from Va thru MD to get up there at the end of '05. Nevermind that it was Nov and it snowed on me from Richmond till the end of MD. Made the trip again in Jan '06, weather was good (but cold) there and back but snowed like stink while I was in the city. The pic with me, the red bike and the snow in my 'Motorcycles' post is from the last trip.
Parents live in Clarkesville, GA, visited them over last Christmas. Beautiful country and nice folks. Got to do a little riding over the holiday. Rode my Dad's 30th Aniversary Goldwing while there. Nice bike! But not my bike.
Got a buddy in Biloxi, MS, rode from Fort Hood to visit him over a long weekend. The pic of two guys in front of the 'Welcome to Florida' sign on the 'Motorcycles' post is from that weekend. We rode to Florida (after heading North thru MS and then across AL) for dinner that day.
    Thanx again.

There's only two kinds of cigars, the kind you like and the kind you don't.
