    Default How did this happen ??

    Ok, heres my story...I go to visit my father-in-law in Fla. this past x-mas, and before we fly home he tells me to take these 6 cigars home with me & give them to my dad. I take them home & give 4 to dad & keep 2 back, dad tells me they are hard as a rock. So i look up how to "revive" dried out cigars & find this website. I looked into humidors and found CC and bought a $25 humi & a sampler. So in comes the humi & sampler pack. All of a sudden im getting all fired up with this ! Now, from reading things on here i know that the hygrometer that comes with a $25 humi isnt any good so i go to the local b&m and for an upgrade and, get to looking around and finding EVERYTHING really interesting ! I ended up walking out of there $56 less then when i walked in (along with a western digital caliber lll). Then on the drive home i spot another cigar store & have to go into it too, which (like you know) walked out of that one $30 less..and wouldnt you know it...almost home & well, heres my old favorite liquor store that always had a walk in (humidor but i never went in there) so i just had to stop in there too. Again, here im walking out less another $30 something ! I tell my dad ive got to let things settle a few weeks & will get the humi seasoned for him. 2 weeks pass and i just cant give it up so, i call CC again & buy another $25 humi (this one is his 4sure) & some more cigars...as well as going back to the spirit store & picking up some more cigars...well, at this point im feeling out of control ! I dont want to give my dad the humidor i bought for him..i cant stay away from the "spirit" store and my visa card is getting worn out. Then i find the www bidding sites...Here is where i feel im completly out of control now but what the hell, i am old enough to do what the hell i want so...www here i go ! Between the b&m & bidding im gaining a nice collection now, but...im looking at space issues..so i buy a 100qt cooler for a coolidor, went to heartfelt & bought 1lb of beads..and another digital hygrometer, had a party and used the (coolidor) for 33 lbs of crawfish so i had to buy another 100qt cooler, more cigars...and lighters, almost forgot about lighters ! Ive bought 4 lighters so far & dont see an end to that either..Lucky for me my dad & my wife are letting me have my fun. Today i started my coolidor project and it should be up & running tonight, so in the morning i'll bring my dad his humi, along with some cigars so we can sit back and enjoy some while we bullshit about what ive learned from you guys. Ive learned alot here & want to thank everyone for the knowlege you've shared in your post's !
    BTW, I did start this post wondering why i was shelling out all my $$ on cigars but, then came to my senses

    LMAO. I think having cigars is more addictive then smoking them. At least anyone looking at me would come to that conclusion.

    Just wait until you fill up your first coolidor and then get a second. Sometimes I wonder how much in the past couple of months I spent on cigars, and figure its better to not add all the numbers up. I think everyone on this board starts out the same way you did. On another note you should try the Newbie Sampler thread if you haven't already (so you can try a bunch of cigars alot cheaper then what your currently paying I'm sure).

    It is a sickness that has no cure! You are going to start robbing liquor stores soon, and then coming back to buy some cigars off of them. Vicious cycle.

    So true. When I started, I would have killed and sworn contentment to have the kind of stash I have now. And do you know what I see when I look into my humidor?

    EMPTY SPACE.

    Look at all those little corners which could hold cigars.
    Why do I only have the desktop and not the coolidor?

    Watch out. Give yourself a spending limit and do not exceed. Trading is always a good option.
    When peace, like a river, attendeth my way,
    When sorrows like sea billows roll;
    Whatever my lot, Thou has taught me to say,
    It is well, it is well, with my soul.

    "smoking" is the best part of collecting...ticks me off to think of all the nice smokes just drying up in someones collection
