    Default Newbie Intro

Just wanted to introduce myself to the forum. I guess I'm an extreme newbie. Just smoked my first cigar today. I ran across this forum a few weeks ago and was very intrigued by the whole cigar sub-culture so I ordered a 16 premium sample set from an online dealer. I think theres some Fuente, CAO, Macanudo, La Flor Dominicana, La Gloria Cubana and some others.

I picked out a nice La Gloria Cubana and headed for my favorite spot in a local park. As I sat there on the bench I tried to remeber all the little tidbits of info that I had culled from the forum about lighting up and enjoying the stick. Don't put the flame directly on the cigar, rotate while lighting, blow on it to even out the burn. Before you know it I'm puffing like a pro. (At least in my mind) I have previously worked for a major tobacco company for several years and really enjoy the aroma of fresh tobacco but have never smoked.

Long story short, I stopped on the way home and bought a humidor and have it curing as we speak. I also picked up a bundle of "every day" cigars too since I want to build up my collection of primos a little. The guy recommended Quorums since they were fairly good but wouldn't break the bank. Perhaps some of the veterans smokers could chime in about whether this was a good choice or not.

Anyhoo, looks like I'll be around a while to pester you with questions from time to time.

    Welcome to the Forum.
I do not recommend the Quorum.

    <insert> Turntables and beatbox...

Seriously, there are much better smokes for the price than the Quorum-

Good bundled and $1-3 per stick options, imho, include Consuegra, La Aurora 2nds, Roly's, Flor de Oliva, Cuba Libre, Sancho Panzas, CI Legends (Black, Red and Blue), Partagas Black Bravos, Placencia TKOs, REO Coronas, Puros Indios-- to name a few.

Again welcome and make yourself at home.

Welcome, the best part of being a newbie (which I still am) is trying out smokes of all different sizes, wrappers and brands. Enjoy yourself

Welcome, it is nice to see someone jump right in.

There is a thread out there on good value smokes. I believe it is called "Value Smokes" or something. Try the search, it should turn up.

Good luck. Quorums aren't bad. Keep them around to give to your friends who may become interested. As a new guy, I really fell in love with anything Arturo Fuente.

It is well, it is well, with my soul.

Sounds like your off to a good start with that sampler ! What did u think of the La Gloria Cubana & what was the "bundle" you bought ? Also, I think once your humidor is seasoned and you let those cigars sit in there for a week or more they will taste even better !
