    Default Poker?

Anybody else here play online? I'd like to set up a private tournament at Absolute for us, but unfortunately I'm not a VIP. Anybody else think this might be a good idea?

CigarPass has a poker section where a bunch of guys play poker with each other for cigars and too many times, the guys who had agreed to send cigars of a certain value either never send the cigars or send crap so it's created too many hard feelings, drama and trouble.

Therefore I don't think it would be a good idea for this site to sponsor a similar endeavor BUT that's just me.

Thanks for tossing ideas out there though!

I was thinking more along the lines of bragging rights with play money. I can't be making any more poker deposits, considering what I just spent on cigars.

3?! its well well over that haha... as it says in my profile i used to be a "professional"... not really but i once heard you can consider yourself a pro if your only income is poker... which it has been for the last 2ish years.

i don't play much anymore but i definately left myself a good chunk of change to dabble around a bit

mills i'll play you for cigars sometime if you can figure out a way to get it set up

Good deal! I tried something similar at the craps tables at the two Connecticut casinos but there was much more "outcome" than "income" so I gave up before they took ALL of my money.

Nice of you to offer to take mill's cigars of his hands, you sound like you'd kick most people's butts in poker.

I play once in a while on Pokerstars and PartyPoker, but only for play money.

Bill is right about the Poker games on CP. It's a great thing as long as everyone pays up, and pays properly. There have been several instances where people didn't receive their cigars, some got 'em eventually, and others disappeared off the face of the earth. Then there was the game where the stakes were 3 "Premiums" and some dude sent some pretty crappy smokes.

Personally, I've won a few times there, and lost more times, but pretty well broke even, possibly a little ahead. I don't play any more as I got tagged a few times for duties that exceeded the value of the smokes.

Boom, LMK your ID at Pokerstars, I'll keep an eye out for ya.

my pstars handle is Money Faucet, i play mostly 50 no limit ring games (mostly at the 6 max players tables) and the occasional tourny... i've had to move to the low stakes becuase the games got too hard after the legislation

i've watched some of the cpass games and some of those guys are very good, once i accumulate a few more sticks i may try it out, it looks like a lot of fun

CC- you will never win money in the long run playing craps, the casino tilts the odds to favor them making it impossible to win if you play for a long time..., the reason poker has an expected value for the player is because you aren't playing against the casino itself, you are playing against other players, the casino doesn't care who wins, therefor the odds are on your side if you know what you are doing. - i don't know if this makes any sense but i could go on for days explaining this stuff so IF you are interessted let me know... otherwise we can drop it right here haha (i tried teaching chefchris the game but he gave up)

Agreed, but, alas we live quite far away. I'll hook that up as soon as I get the patent back on my teleporter.

Okay, I've been looking around, but I can't find a site that will just let you sign up and make a private table/tourney. If anyone knows of one, or can do this, let me know.

I propose that Boomshay be banned from all "CigarSmokers" poker events for the next five years, at which time all interested parties will vote on his ban or submission.

All kidding aside, Boomer is a shark, so beware of putting your sticks in the middle with him. But on the flip side, I'll be willing go up against anyone, including Boom, who wasn't taken by my scare tactics and wants to play for say two econo sticks each starting with 1000 chips and keeping the blinds at 5/10.

    Let me know.

It's a good thing this forum doesn't have a designated poker table; I'd hate to take the money from my fellow BOTLs who have been so generous to me in the past.

I've actually never played poker online, but while at college (and vacation at home), I've been known to make a few bucks playing Hold'em. I can generally get a fairly good read on most people I play against, except for one of my childhood best friends. He has Asberger's disease (an offshoot of autism), and is exceptionally hard to read at poker. He's one of the few of my regular poker buddies that can absolutely destroy me on a regular basis.

hershey would this tourny be a no limit or limit tourny? i would play you in either but we'd have to find a way to get it set up... you sound like you may know what you are doing... what's your poker background?

also if anyone finds out how to set something up i'd be willing to play best 2/3 or 3/5 or whatever just to get more poker in and less sending packages out

I am most comfortable playing cash game style, whoevers wins it all takes the cake. Tourney is a crap shoot in the beginning and end, not what pokers all about imo.

Set something up! I'll be able to play in the last week of this month. Let me know via pm!

i can look around but i really don't think there's any sites that allow small tournies like that to be set up, i'll email some sites though and see if i can do anything
