Thread: Songs that you turn down at red lights.

None that I can think of. I put up with 30 years of people playing rap, crap and hip hop at blasting levels, so now I get back by cranking open the windows, lighting up a stick and blaring some good ole' Michael Buble, Pink Martini, Frank Sinatra, or something else I love.

I'm a chick so I can get away with pretty much anything.

However, I don't like people knowing I listen to any rap or Hip-Hop. I'm so anti those two types of music, but every now and then, I'll hear a song I like...
"This is why I'm Hot." by Mims for example.

My parents were big Olivia Newton-John, Donna Summer and Petula Clark fans ...... so I listen to their stuff for *Cough* nostalgia's sake?

I also do some theatre work.... so I normally don't blare the old showtunes.

Sir Mix-A-Lot, Baby Got Back (I can't help but love this song)
    The Sugarhill Gang, Rappers Delight
    The Cranberries

On a completely different note, if I'm at a light and New Age Girl by Dead Eye Dick, or Safety Dance by Men Without Hats comes on, I blast it!! Kinda fed up.

Not really. I'm only 25, but I've loved that song as long as I can remember.

Wow, then that song was already a golden oldie when you were a kid!

I've been listening to a lot of early Daniel Johnston ever since I watched that one documentary. Good stuff to zone out to, but I get insecure when other people enter the room.

Men Without Hats had some great 80s tunes!

I just picked up two of their old records on vinyl. So much better sound on vinyl.

I remember when I was kid listening to Gloria Estafan and Madonna in the car with my mom. If I hear one of the songs my mom used to make me listen to, I'll usually stop and listen.

I'd say the most "embarrassing" music I listen in my car is probably Me First and the Gimmie Gimmies. I love their music. If it's on, the windows are usually down, and I'm jamming out.

I don't usually turn it down, but I do get strange looks when I'm playing Kelly Clarkson.

Are you kidding me?!?! I max out my stereo when that song comes on. Half of NW DC has heard me play that song at red lights.
