Partagas 8-9-8 Cabinet Selección Barnizados (barnizados=varnished (box)) NOV 08.

When I smoked a couple of these four years ago, my notes were, "underwhelming, lacking in strength and richness." I even bought another one of similar age from my local B&M to compare just in case my box were fakes.

    My patience has been rewarded.

Holy F*CK this is a good cigar!

I know people like the 'new' Partagas taste of the SD#4 and SP#2 - and I like those cigars too - but I understand now why { delete... the head of Partagas said a few years ago that the 8-9-8 varnished was the best cigar the factory made. /delete} add - > Ernesto Lopez, the director of the Partagas factory in the '90's, said the Dalia was his flagship size. (The Dalia is the factory name for the 6 5/8" x 43 vitola in the 898 varnished.) /add

Imagine the best 1926 natty that you've had. This cigar is sort of like that - but more refined and just plain better (and, like a typical Cuban, a tighter roll... it can only be sipped).

Definitely one of the best cigars that I have ever smoked. :-).

You make it sound so good.

I had a EPC EL 2011 that was coming apart at the seams.

I am now having a La Palina Kill Bill. This is my first time with this one, very nice so far.

    Opus X Petite Lancero

I didn't want this smoke to end...

To my benefactor: I once told you that I was hard-pressed to see how a $20 cigar was THAT much better than 3 $8 cigars; well, I think I may be convinced with Opux X. I really enjoyed this and it made the second half of the super-bowl tolerable. Thank you sir!

(I am aware that I can get this cigar for around $10, with some careful shopping, but the point is still valid.)

I have been fairly active here since early 2012 and I don't recall there being one. I'd love to see it happen soon.

First Join, then pray your spot allows you to pick your first choice. Guaranteed 898's won't make it past me.

Too bad it's such a hassle for brothers up North to host one.

Would I qualify to host this? If so, I'd like to give it a go. I figure it's about time for me to quit being a leach around here and do something.
