    Default Cohiba Siglo VI

    Feb 07 Tubos

This cigar in my opinion is the best cigar on the market. This wasn't the best VI, nor the worst, but it was very good. Given the youth, I was more interested in the 2007 stock rather than judging this VI to other great VIs I've smoked.

Upon lighting, the first draw was medium to full bodied, classic VI creamy, vanilla bean, butter, and pepper through the nose. The next draw was more nutty. Already in such a young cigar there is so much complexity. An inch into the cigar and 30 minutes later, the smoke has calmed down to the grassy vanilla bean in more of a lighter, smoother medium body lacking the pepper. This flavor was carried over the next inch and I was wondering if I have seen all I'll see out of such a young cigar. About mid-way the power showed through, carrying spice almost to the end. Towards the last inch - two inches, the spicy, grassy vanilla gave way to ammonia, where I layed the cigar to rest shortly thereafter.

2007 looks very promising. Over the next year I expect the complexity and flavor to be more enjoyable as the youthful ammonia disappears.

    Overall - A

    Default Great Review

    Cls515,

    Great review, especially start-to-finish.

I have been eyeing this particular cigar, but found it a bit pricy at this point.

You mention the "07" in a vintage context. The sense I'm getting is to buy and hold in the humidor for some ageing.

    Thanks again.

The VIs I've had with age have been more refined and also showing more strength, kinda like magnifying the flavors of the cigar I just reviewed and then multiplying all that with more power. The new pyramid EL is the only cigar I've smoked lately that has been as enjoyable, and it still is young.
