and I already need another one. Went on the annual scuba/boating vacation to Bull Shoals lake in NW Arkansas the week of July 4th. I should have known something was going to happen as things just before the trip were going entirely too smoothly with all the preparations.

The trip is normally about 308 miles and 7 hours........this time, 529 miles and 11 hours. Started out on hwy 400 headed east.......got to eastern KS near Fredonia and the hwy was closed due to flooding.....29 mile back track to hwy 99 then south to hwy 160, back to the east.........closed due to flooding...........45 mile backtrack to hwy 99, south to hwy 166, back to the east.........closed due to flooding.........40 mile backtrack to hwy 99 south to OKLAHOMA hwy 10, south to hwy 60, east to interstate 44.....whippee got through.

Now, mind you, I knew we were, and had been having, lots of rain so I dilligently checked all the hwys we were going to be taking and all were fine the night before we left, or at least KDOT said they were......and even when we reached the first closure I called the 511 hwy info line and they said all the roads we tried (160-166) were "normal driving conditions"......liars!!

My wife and I have been going to this same resort for 12 years along with her brother and his daughter and have always had a great time with little to no problems with our cabin or boat or anything like that. Well, we also took her sister her husband and their two kids with us this year. On the first day the TV and DVD player in their cabin took a big dump. When the owner came in to switch them out, they had their big cooler in the cabin on the lineolum floor, which is a no-no since they sweat and damage the flooring if you are not careful....it even says right on the check-in sheet NOT to put your coolers inside on the kitchen floor, oops owner not happy.....then the next day, their toilet handle breaks.......then the coffee pot takes a crap.....and last but not least, their boat won't run worth a crap and the resort guy spends quite a bit of time helping them get it running.

Finally get their boat up to snuff and we spend the next day out on the lake and had a pretty good time. Come back to the cabin and what do we find.......a big string of garlic has been hung up over the porch of their cabin by the resort owner. From then on, a good time was had by all.
