    Default Cigarillos Negros

My question is about cuban cigarettes with cigar tobacco, so I hope I can still post it at a cigar site Both Cohiba and Romeo Y Juliet produce a cigarette from cigar tobacco (Cohiba calls them cigarillo negros). They taste great, and much different than domestic cigarettes. However, they are of course very hard to obtain. Canada doesn't even allow them because of labeling regulations. I've read one other site that compares them to French Brunes Gitanes, which I haven't tried before and would like to try as an alternative. I am trying to find a cigarette with a similar taste/make that I can purchase in the states. In particular, I've been trying to find out if there are any Dominican Republic versions of these or any other brand cigarettes from the Dominican Republic, which are legal in the US? Does the Dominican Republic make a cigarette with cigar tobacco, similiar to the Cubans?

    Thanx for your help!

don't know what exactly you're looking for, but alot of brands make cigarillos... not mini's, mind you, the ones that are cigarette size... but they are very much cigars, no filter and the taste like their big brothers... my girlfriend smokes these tiny Hoyo de Monterreys sometimes that are great if you only have time for a cigarette sized smoke.

Hi. Thanks for your reply. Sorry I'm late here; I must not have set up the auto-notify thing right.

That's exactly what I have in mind. But the Hoyo de Monterrey cigarettes are Cuban also, aren't they? I'm in the states, just trying to find something similar. Thought I could get them in Canada, but Canada apparently doesn't sell them anymore (Cuban cigarettes, that is). Then I started wondering if there was anything produced in the Dominican Republic, that might be similar?

Would you mind finding out if your girlfriends cigarettes are Cuban? Or, maybe some more details about them?

    I'd really appreciate it. Thanx!

They aren't cuban, alot of companies have both a cuban and non-cuban line... they're just plane old cigarillos. about 4x20, come in little redish tins... not much more detail about them, ask around at B&Ms or search online some.

I see. Thanks. Yah, what I'm looking for is a little different. I think what you're talking about is the cigarillos wrapped in the tobacco leaf. What I'm looking for is actually the paper-wrapped cigarette, but filled with fine black tobacco. They're basically just cigarettes, but they taste a hell of a lot better than anything American, because they're made out of cigar tobacco. Cohiba makes them, and calls them "cigarrillos negros" or black cigarette; "black" referring to the cigar tobacco. Romeo y Julieta also makes them and just calls them cigarrillos. I believe the difference is the spelling. Cigarillo is a small cigar. Cigarrillo is a cigarette. I've only ever seen Cuban "black cigarettes". I'm really curious to find out if they make this sort of thing in the Dominican Republic, or somewhere else importable that I could get a hold of. But either way, they must not be widely produced, because they sure seem to be hard to find :)
