Default Flor de Baloney ~ No. 2 Maduro

Other's reviews (None found, searching the Reviews Forum)

Smoke: Flor de Baloney ~ No. 2 Maduro
    Drink(s): Dogfishead 60min IPA
    Tunes: nothing

    Wrapper: Honduras
    Binder: Honduras
Filler: Honduras / Nicaraguan / Dominican
    Draw: Medium
    Burn: Excellent
    Misc: 90 minutes

Pre-light: Dark brown. Has a textured surface, kinda like a pretzel. Veiny. Sweet tobacco scent, and no pre-light flavor

    Light: Easy. Medium draw.

1st 3rd: Seems a medium / full body. Medium flavor. Has a buttery mouth feel. Leather is dominant flavor. No spices detected. Pretty 1 dimensional, but good.

Ash: Dense layers. Medium gray. Little ash bubbles throughout. Holds on for 1 ¼”

2nd 3rd: Moving back to a medium body. Still a medium flavor. Same profile as the 1st 3rd, but more melded & mellow now.

3rd 3rd: Same as the 2nd & 1st 3rd. Mellow, but not without flavor. Interesting Honduran smoke, as I don’t believe I have a lot of Honduran stock.

Overall impression: Excellent, especially for the price range on JR Cigar. I would surely recommend these for an everyday smoke. Thank you Smoked! for sending this one! I was always curious about it.

With a name like Flor de Baloney, it HAS to be good!

I'll be honest.. the name alone has kept me free from any desire to try them. You know.. the whole "book by the cover thing".

    Another fine review my friend!

    Great review Will.

New marketing slogan...with a name like Baloney it HAS to be good

I wish I had an Oscar Meyer ci-gar...

I like the review! I arrived a the same conclusion as to the price/value scoring. Also, these are great to hand out to guys who stop in once a year to mooch a cigar off you. They don't suck, any new guy can handle them, and they're cheap. I enjoy them after a big meal of stuffing.

The story Lew tells about the name is amusing. Check it out on JR's site if you're so inclined.

I was chatting with Will while he was working on this review and I actually thought it was a joke. I thought he was eating a baloney sandwich and making a clever joke about smoking a "Flor de Baloney". Damn't I'm such a newb!

    Nice review Will.

had one last weekend after having them in the vinotemp for about two weeks. i found the cigar to be one of my favorite JR smokes so far, and share many of the same thoughts. the only complaint i had was that the burn was uneven most all of the way down (no matter the attempts to remedy it).

good, good cigar, and a great one for the $.

    see ya
