Let this be a warning to all of you out there about the dangers of email phishing. Now most of us I would assume would never fall for it, yet many of us have significant others that just might.

Apparently, my wife clicked on a link from a phishing email last week and we come to find out this morning that someone in NJ got our online banking info and changed the log in stuff. So we go to the bank to try and stop things and see that both my checking and our savings were cleaned out.

Now the fraud team at Wachovia is great and said we should have the money back next week, however this is still a monumental PITA. We spent 3.5 hours at the bank and now I'm changing all of my direct deposit and bill pay stuff.

In the end I am hoping this will be nothing more than a hassle, but it still shouldn't have happened. So go and make sure your wife, girlfriend, etc... knows that no legitimate financial institution will ever ask for account information via email.
