Thread: Can they be saved?

  1. Default Can they be saved?

A friend of mine bought me two Montecristos for my birthday, and not having a humidor, left them in open air for a few days. Being newly 18, I did not have a humidor yet, meaning I had to wait for my humidor to stabilize to put the cigars in. In all this time, I fear the cigars have dried out. The question I pose is, if a dry cigar is put in a humidor, will it eventually be as it was before, or will there be a difference?

Excellent information about reconditioning dried-out cigars

How about an introduction? Tell us a little about who you are, your hobbies, etc.

A few days is fine. I keep my cigars I plan to smoke soon in a cigar box with no humidification.

Yeah, I wouldn't worry about it if it is only a couple of days. Just stick them in a ziplock bag. If it is only two cigars, dip a Q-tip into water, distilled if you have it, and squeeze out any extra and put it in the bag with the cigars. Try not to touch 1-tip and cigars. When the Q-tip dries, repeat.

Wow, that's a pretty neat idea. Never really thought of that. Thanks for the tip.
