I'm draining the yeast culture on my SN Celebration. This is NOT supposed to be all cloudy as hell. Still tastes great. I consider it probiotics.
Soon, it will be new keg time, I predict.

Founders Big Lushious
This beer is super sweet. A dessert beer, no doubt. Not quite my gig, but it is an impressive example of brewing.

The Wifey and I made a sojourn to southwest Michigan this past weekend, and we did our usual hunt for the local wineries and ran across an incredible find. Round House Wineries also has Round House brewery and distillery. They also operate the Round House Public House in Baroda, MI.
After doing a beer tasting at the Round House brewery we were encouraged by staff to visit the Public House to try their Cartharsis Beer (they did not serve it at the brewery). It was well worth the trip.
According to their description:
Round House produces their own bourbon whiskey and they use those whiskey barrels to age this stout. The bourbon is wildly popular, I'm told, and they are completely sold out - their next batch of bourbon is about 3-5 years away.Catharsis
This Bourbon Aged Imperial Stout is a full bodied beer, with an array of complex dark malt flavors ranging from roasted to carmel. The oak-aged bourbon barrel character is very transparent and pleasant where malty sweetness balances a smooth warm alcohol character. This is to date, the highest ABV beer tapped by the Round Barn Brewery. (ABV 10%)
This was unlike any other beer I've ever had - and an incredibly enjoyable experience. The only shame about this beer is it is only served in their Public House and only in a single glass (e.g. none is bottled and you cannot get it in a growler). If you are a bourbon drinker - this is the beer for you! It was incredible rich and sweet and definitely had the bourbon taste. I did not notice the "warm alcohol character" but very much enjoyed the sweetness of the beer. Not overly sweet, but a noticeable sweetness. I would have loved to pair it with a nice maduro cigar - unfortunately that was not possible. (hopefully I'm around when they produce their next batch of Catharsis so that I might have be able to grab some when they bottle it).
I also brought home some of their Black Magic - a raspberry infused dark stout.
The raspberry flavor does not overpower this beer, but gives it a different dimension in flavor. In fact - it really well complements the chocolaty flavors in this dark stout. I've had raspberry wheat beers, but this was an entirely different breed of beer. I was glad I was able to bring a growler home with me - I enjoyed a glass of it yesterday to round out a great weekend. I also brought home samples of Bob's Your Uncle, High-Tech Redneck and Oronoko Cocoa Stout. All of them impressed me with their incredibly balanced flavors.Black Magic
Black Magic is a well balanced beer that puts stout characteristics at the front and compliments it with the addition of fresh Michigan black raspberries, which unlike reds are only available in July. The flavor starts out showcasing the roasted malts that define a good stout, then carried up by the sour sweet flavors of fresh black raspberries, and then finished with the delightful warming taste of gourmet chocolate. It's a seasonal specialty, a wonderful dessert beer whether you are craving a fruit beer or a stout. (ABV 5.80%)
If you're in the area of Baroda, MI I highly recommend a visit to their brewery.

I had a long drive to the west side of West Virginia today and I saw several winery and maybe 1 distillery sign, and I thought of you, George each time.
Those beers sound really good. Founders makes one called Kentucky Bourbon Stout (KBS) and it is delicious. Reminds me of your first description. I also had one recently from Founders called Big Luscious which was brewed with chocolate and rasberry, which wasn't my bag, but I could tell they put a lot into it. Way too sweet and flat for beer, IMO. Dessert beer.
I still have Nugget Nectar on tap.

I should have a batch of blackberry hefeweizen ready this weekend. 33 half liter bottles carbonating in my tub right now.
