I've just returned from Beer Camp with several empty kegs. The Irish Red Rye, Robust Porter, Chipotle Smoked Porter, Pale Warrior Ale, Scottish Session, and barleywine all floated.
    Time to get brewin' again.

    Sierra Nevada ~ 2011 Bigfoot

This is a barleywine ale. I bought it even though I was skeptical of the barleywine aspect. It's pretty nice. They must hop it up a bit to get out of the too sweet land of barleywine.

    Ok. **Look at me post**

I just got a 1/4 barrel of Bell's Two Hearted Ale and a 1/6 barrel of Smuttynose ~ Robust Porter
Tonight I also got a case of Troegs ~ Hopback.

Life is good in the beer world in Bitterville. Financial world, not so whippy.

I'll be brewing up a Smoked Porter after work this morning while enjoying an Irish Red Ale then this evening it's off to the Peoria Beer Fest VIP party. Think I take a Partagas Black.

    Weyerbacher ~ Merry Monks' Belgian

Different. I like it. Has a yeast / sour smell, but a sweet fruit like taste. I don't drink Belgian often, and am always surprised how unique they are.

Polished off a growler of this season's Jubelale from Deschutes Brewery. I should really drink faster.

Right now, 20" Brown from Cascade Lakes Brewing Company

Abita 25th anniversary brew. Finally enjoying reasonable weather and getting to smoke and drink again!

Now that the weather is almost cooling down here, I've been enjoying the OPA by Ranger Creek. Good stuff.

    Weyerbacher ~ Old Heathen

Watery for an imperial stout. It's good, but it's more like a regular porter, or a black IPA to me.

I love homebrew. Over the past 10 years or so, I have made some extremely good beers and some really not so good ones. My beer that is up next and ready to be tapped today, is my Cherry Wheat Ale. I am really excited as I had never done a fruit flavored beer before. My other beer that is coming out on Monday is a Honey Oatmeal Stout. I wanted it this week for National Stout Day but from looks of carboy, could use another week. Good suds to all my fellow homebrewers!

So thanks to a screw up with amazon.com and UPS I scored myself a free Mr. Beer brewing system.

Any of the home brewers here have any advice for a first timer?

All depends on what kind of beer you like. The Mr. Beer system is very basic and easy. Each batch has its own instructions. The most important thing, and this goes for any home brew system, is to maintain sanitary conditions. Make sure you mix thoroughly and that you pitch your yeast at the right temp. Wait the 2 weeks for fermentation. Other than that, just follow their instructions and good luck.

Founders ~ Breakfast Stout; This is to me, what an imperial stout should taste like. It tastes like a liquid chocolate cake & coffee.

That is my all time favorite beer. I wish it was distributed in Tennessee.
