    Default Intro

Afternoon all. Apparantly intros are expected, I presume you aren't interested in work history, birth pictures etc, so I'll stick to how I became interesed in cigars... (approaching 60 so I should know better ehh?)

Had a little motorcycle accident while riding the Continental Divide Trail in NM on a big dirt bike (KTM 950 Adv.). Eventually got home to OK and got pinned, screwed, plated, and stapled up and found myself chair-bound for 3 months. While contemplating if I should just kill myself immediately or die a slow death of Opra, a friend dropped off a small humidor, tools and a few smokes. By that time, I could hobble/crawl to the deck and after reading some Hemmingway, began thinking I been neglecting my drinking, smoking and whoring around... the latter was a sure way to a painful vivisection so I settled on Scotch and cigars...

I have been having about one cigar a day since that time (July?). I am priviledged to have a marvelous view from the deck and look forward to my afternoon whisky and cigar! What a delightful way to contemplate one's navel! Smoked one while going for a walk with our Lab yesterday, and discovered that worked also ...

I generally attack interests with enthusiasm, some say obsessively. I have found the samplers from CI and other places a great way to test the waters. To date a Nestor Vintage is the first and perhaps only cigar to really rock my back with a "WOW" at first taste. I have another and it will be fun to see if it has the same effect. Waiting for the correct weather conditions to have the next...

OK - 'nuf blather. Happy to answer any questions but will probably more of a consumer of info than a provider.

    Cheers,

    Rusty

    Welcome to the boards!

Sucks that you wrecked out on the trail. I bet that bike was a monster, KTM 950, that thing had to run. But at least something good came out of it, you found yourself a new hobby t enjoy.
