  1. Default Looking for a good smoke

Hiya everyone. I am new to these forums and cigars as well. I was hoping you could give a beginner several of your favorite cigars to go try out or just whatever you think would be a good smoke. I have done some research but it is quite daunting making a descision so help a guy out. great to be here by the way .

I started smoking cigars as a non-smoker so I tried milder cigars like Macanudo (Cu-avana is a good alternative at a great price) and Baccarat. My friends who started smoking cigars after smoking cigarettes liked cigars with more power like Hoyo de Monterrey, Punch, La Gloria Cubana. It's all personal but try lots of different kinds.

Do you have a cigar shop near you? If so, go there and talk to someone that works there. Explain to them that you are new and would like to have thier recommendations. More often than not, they will be very helpful knowing that if they screw you over the first time, they will loose out on a potential return customer.

Also, check the review section of this board and see which of the milder smokes got good reviews by other board members.

I am new to this all too but I quickly leaned towards the darker bolder cigars. My personal favorite it the Carlos Torano Exodus 1959 (Gold label). It is a dark cigar with a medium to full flavor.

Have you had anything yet? If so, list some smokes you have already tried.

    Paschendale,

Totally off topic…. Saw your name and picture and I love it . Been a huge Maiden fan since ’81. Going to see them in August, can’t wait. Nice to see there are some other headbangers starting to enjoy some of the finer things in life like quality cigars.

    For some milder reccos:

Zino Connoisseur, LGC(La Gloria Cubana) Wavell Natural, Ashton Cabinet.

    Medium reccos:

Padron (thousand series), Punch Rothchild Maduro, HDM(Hoyo De Monterrey) Excalibur Epicure.

    Full reccos:

Gurkha Regent, Ashton VSG, ERDM(El Rey Del Mundo) Flor De Llaneza, LGC Series R.

Hope this helps brother! Good luck!

Thanks for the help guys. I went to my local cigar shop last friday friday and tried a few diffrent smokes. They told me a few milder smokes would be the Montecristo #1 and the Macanudo Hampton Court. I tried both and enjoyed them thouroghly. They also sold me a Excalibur Royal Steling and a Jose Marti' for some darker smokes. I thought the Excalibur was the best thing I had ever put in my mouth. I plan to go back and look for some of the ones you have recommended here though soon. And to Guenzak, glad to see other maidenheads on here. I am going to Ozzfest this summer and am thrilled that Iron Maiden will be there this year.
