    Default A New Page

Well, I lost my job yesterday. First off, my boss is a complete idiot. As some of you know, I scambait (screw w/ scammers). My boss thinks it's illegal and told me to stop. So I did at work. None of his business what I do on my own time. So he told me yesterday that he knew I was still doing it and the FBI was going to track me down and arrest me. I tried to explain to him that it is the complete opposite of illegal and that I work with Law Enforcement. His other problem with me is that I smoke cigars. "At work" you ask? No. Lunch Breaks? Nope. At home after work is when I enjoy a cigar. This is a quote from the letter he gave me:

"It is not my business what you do on your own time, but when you at times come in to our non-smoking atmosphere smelling strongly of cigar smoke, neither I nor the non-smoking customers want to smell it."

When he was having the talk with me, he was saying that I was being young and stupid. He said it was light him lighting a $20 bill and smoking it and saying, "Yeah, this is good". He talked about cigars for 10 minutes.

He then proceeded to witness to me for 45 minutes. No exaggeration. As many of you know, I am a Christian. He thinks I'm not because of the way I look and because I smoke cigars. Here's another quote from the letter:

"I especially hope and pray that you might really find and have a genuine personal relationship with The Lord Jesus Christ. Without that and receiving His guidance and direction for you life, it is all meaningless." He then listed some scripture."

This had nothing to do with how I preformed my job. He had nothing bad to say about that aspect. Which doesn't surprise me, I was awesome at my job.

2 weeks ago he accused me and Tod, the other employee, of stealing money and jobs from him. He kept asking why business is so slow. So what's he do? Gives us a raise. This makes no sense. Business is slow because he's running it into the ground. We have the highest prices in town and he never gets work done on time. I've been there 2 years and have noticed a drastic change in the business.

He's done so many things wrong. I know this. I'm sure I could take this to court or whatever but I'm just not going to worry about it. The man is out of his mind.

So I have no idea what I'm going to do. He really screwed me over, but I'm glad to finally get out of there. I have to return my shirts Monday. I thought about stringing them up in my living room and smoking em out. My dad said I should use them as a filter, just draw smoke through the shirt.

I don't live with my mom or anything and have bills to pay just like a real grown-up. I'm a little stressed, but maybe I'll wind up alot happier than I was.

Hey man sorry to hear it. i wouldn't worry about it though, if you have faith in the Lord and are a solid worker you shouldn't have trouble finding another job. Besides from the sound of it the Lord didn't really seem to want you working there. i mean that story is pretty rediculus. i can't comment on whatever it was you were doing on the net or something cuz i can barely even use word. anyways if your feeling down still check out Phillipians 4:6-7. whenever i feel like i am sinking this verse always picks me up.

Chris, good luck with everything, that is absolutely crazy. The sad thing is, the dude would be just as nuts christian or not, but b/c he is a christian he makes us all look 1000 times worse. I hope you're able to find another job quickly and that your bills get lost this month and it's the companies' faults.

He is sooo screwed if you choose to pursue it. I also love it when people are so ignorant that they feel a person with tatoos and smokes cigars can't be "saved."

    What a dumbass.

Best of luck to you with whatever you choose. Either way I know you'll find a new and better job soon.

Phil told me about this today. That's one of the most completely BS firings I've ever heard of. That said, I have no doubt you'll be a lot happier when you get a job that doesn't involve working for that idiot. Best of luck, Chris.

    Chris,
What a bummer man. I have four words that get me through all the hard times I have had in my nearly fifty years - "This too, will pass." Good luck.

Respect for the religious beliefs expressed in this thread prevent me from saying what I normally would. Anyway, see how well he does now without you. Sounds like he was going into the toilet already and now he's one step closer.

That's a huge bummer, Chris. I think you should report him as well, not just for yourself, but to protect the next guy who ends up working for him.
Don't get too down and remember everything happens for a reason. There's a great opportunity waiting for you right around the corner.

Sorry to hear about that. You seem to be taking it with a good attitude. BTW, if any of his actions are documented, you could have quite the case in court. Several of the things you mention him doing are not acceptable employment practices, I think.

If any of the managers in my workplace acted in this way they would be fired very quickly if these actions were documented, but I work for a very large company that is very careful about these things.

Again, sorry to hear it. Perhaps a better opportunity will come up and you will be happier. Working for a crappy boss really sucks.

I somehow missed this thread, but that really sucks. Sounds like it may have been for the best though. Good luck with the hunt.

i agree with everyone else, and if what you are saying is true, and have some sort of documentation...it should be an easy win...

i worked at a fancy restaurant as a valet...and the manager was a complete idiot, and would come out side and bitch at me for stuff that i had absolutly nothing to do with (like wat goes on in the kitchen) hell, he wouldnt let any of the valet's get any food, or even a glass of water, or even use the toilet, we had to go piss in the bushes, and drink water out of the hose (no joke, workin in the summer and winter sucked) and when it is 0 degrees out side, even when there is only one customer left to leave at the end of the night, we had to stand outside in the cold.

SO after a while, i got sick, and i ended up having to quit because standing out in the cold every night was just making me worse

Douchebag bosses run businesses into the ground, luckily the owner (David Burke whose a famous chef in NY) booted the asshole, because he quickly realized that the asshole had no idea what he was doing, and was constantly making everyone feel like shit who worked in the restaurant and the new guy who is cool. im thinkin of going back in the summer

Moral of the story, this douchebag will pay his dues. what goes around comes around! dont worry, things might work out for the better dont worry, you'll find another job(maybe better than the last with more $$).

Wow, what a trip man. Not only is he a major league but then he tries to make himself feel better by letting you know what a tortured soul you are. He'll get his soon enough, karma is a bitch.

I have a friend who works for DirecTV. He seems to like it and I got a crazy deal on service.

    Good luck man,

    spiffy
