My wife has a friend that has a house there that we are going to use May 03-11. I know it's close to the Gulf and a large forrest near by.

I wish it were closer! About 6 hours from my I think.
If it is anything like it's neighboring cities it should be a very nice area with good beaches!
I have never been so I could be wrong but those coastal areas in the panhandle are usually pretty nice!

That's very near to Pensacola - roughly 11 hours from me. I haven't been in the area for a couple years. There are some decent beaches there and over by Panama City. Sorry I can't offer more help.
