Default Local forum car theft recovery

This happened over the past couple of days on a local online car forum. The original thread can be found here. Don't mind some of immature posts, there are a lot of kids on that forum. Linky

Here is a picture of the car that was stolen. Apparently some kid took it for a test drive and didn't return. Distinguishing features of the thief include two missing fingers.

A local member recognizes the car, catches it in traffic and snaps a pic of the driver.

Car is located parked in Calgary, another member blocks it in while calling the police. Police come, arrest the thief and the car is returned. Note the hat in the second picture.

Lesson #1 You don't steal a rare car and then drive it around not expecting people to notice!

Although it made me miss my skyline!!

Nice, what an idiot. Is it just me or does the picture with the kid in the car look like he's trying to give the finger...oh yeah he's missing the middle finger, again what an idiot.

I know this isn't relevant to the thread, but that dude has a GINORMOUS head!!! The tag on that hat in that last pic shows size 7 5/8...the picture right above it shows same hat barely perched on that melon.
He must have a huge pillow!

It's a rare car in the states. You can only special order them from Nissan. They are everywhere in Japan. The only option for the Skyline in the states is an GTR. This is Nissan's answer for a fast race.

I had a Dark Grey '95 Skyline GTS. Still is one of my favorite cars.

They are rare in Canada because they were never released here and have to be imported from Japan and must be at least 15 years old.

    Agreed with you there.

Most of the Japanese imported cars are essentially dragged out of the junkyard, shipped over here in a container and sold for $10,000+

But as long as they are 15+ years old they don't have to comply to current Canadian safety regulations.

Yep - couldn't agree more with you Kev!!!

But that was then (the stolen car) and this is now (the new car photo posted)! The old one was something of an oddity and an OK car, but the new one... Well... The NEW little bugger is a monster with a twin-turbo V-6 and high-tech all wheel drive. ( 0-60 in 3.3 seconds!!!) It also has a pretty hefty pricetag at ~$75K!!! Very little out there that compares. The old vs. new is like comparing Neon models to the Viper - not even in the same league!!!

    Read all about it...

    2009 GT-R

Acceleration (0-60 mph): 3.3 sec. Base Number of Cylinders: 6
Base Engine Size: 3.8 liters Base Engine Type: V6
Horsepower: 480 hp Max Horsepower: 6400 rpm
    Torque: 430 ft-lbs. Max Torque: 3200 rpm
Drive Type: AWD MSRP $71,900 (top model)

The 2009 Nissan GT-R is powered by a 3.6-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine that generates 473 hp and 434 pound-feet of torque. A six-speed dual-clutch automated manual transmission routes this prodigious power to the ground via an advanced all-wheel-drive system.
In our instrumented testing, the 3,836-pound GT-R teleported to 60 mph in a drama-free 3.3 seconds, thanks to its launch control function, and turned in a blistering 11.6-second quarter-mile at nearly 121 mph.

A $70,000 car can get you to 60 mph faster than any Ferrari or Lamborghini currently in production
