    Default Wtf!!!??? Help!!!!

so recently i decided to invest in the cigar oasis ultra, so i followed the instructions, put it in my humidor, and let it rip...at first i noticed a serious peak in the humidity (i had the oasis set to 70%), and the reading i was getting on my digital hydrometer was saying 78%...soo i went and took my other digital hydrometer out of my travel humi and stuck it in with the other one...to see waht happens, so now, im freaking out, because all 3 devices say different humidity's... the western calibre says its 74%, my little havana says its 78% and the cigaroasis says its 60%....WHAT THE HELL???

(all the links go to the products i have)

do a salt test on your hygrometers. You can search around here for threads that explain how it works. Dont freek out, just figure how much off your hygrometers are from 70% and go from there.

My Oasis XL plus reads about 4% high, but I read from a cheapo walmart hygro that I have salt tested. I have the Oasis set at 63%, and have a pound of 65% beads to do most of the work. My cooler holds steady at 66%.

I recommend using only one hygro that has been salt calibrated.. a little bit of math, and a lot of patience.

    Or... Just get some beads

Digital hygrometers are much better than cheap analog ones. I got a quality Diamond Crown hygrometer, and for the past 3.5 years it has never been more than 1% off. I check it every 90 days or so by taking it to my cigar shop and asking the owner to put it in the humidor all day. Then we check it, and it has never been more than 1% off the DC hygrometer he has installed in his humidor. So it was well worth the $40 I spent.
There's only two kinds of cigars, the kind you like and the kind you don't.

The only hygrometer I've ever had that was almost spot on out of the box was the $5 digital special from Wal-Mart. Best bet for your money in my book.

i don't think it is calibratable. i can't find where i downloaded the pic but do a Google search for "Acu-Rite 00891" and it will come up with it.
