Default Newbie Review #4 Cuban Crafters Cameroon

OK, right from the start I have to say this was a GOOD cigar.

I had the Toro which is a 6" x52 torpedo. The taste is dripping with dark chocolate as well as some spice. Here I am having only smoked my 4th cigar and I'm already finding that I like the medium to full body smokes a lot more than the mild cigars.

First 3rd: Wow! No harshness at all and the flavors are all right there up front. There was absolutely a dark chocolate taste with some spice. I didn't notice the "Floral Notes" that they mention on their web site but that doesn't take anything away from the flavor. I'm glad I had a mild cigar for my first cigar, but this has some real flavor behind it. The smoke was much thicker then the Wavell or the DK Green.

Second Third: Still flavorful with no harshness. I smoked it at least half way before the ash fell off. The burn was nice and even and the draw was a bit tighter than the Don Kiki Green label but not overly so. The smoke was thick and silky. Very nice indeed.

Last Third: I did start to get some harshness out of it and even coughed a couple of times when it hit me hard. But the flavor was still so good that I smoked it down to the band and beyond. I didn't notice much of a nicotine hit until I got up from my chair. Then it really hit me. Or, it might be that double shot of bourbon I had with it.

The flavor meshed with the bourbon much better than the DK Green label I had a couple of days ago. I don't think I would have enjoyed this if it was my first cigar, but after just a few sticks I'm finding that I really like the fuller flavors of a medium body cigar.

The website describes the cigar as:
MEDIUM TO FULL BODY. Their distinguished taste is ultra premium and slightly sweet, with exhilirating woody and spicy undertones. It finishes with a cedar and cocoa burst.
I thought the cocoa was there for the whole smoke. I could taste the wood and spice, but I didn't detect anything that I specifically thought of as cedar. On the last third I did have a bit of a problem with the wrapper becoming flackey and peeling. But it wasn't nearly as bad as the DK Green.

So far this has been my favorite smoke. I'd have no problem sharing this with friends. If they're into a fuller flavor smoke with thicker, creamier smoke then I think they'd be impressed with his one.

    This is a good one.

Nice review. Maybe the woodsy character you tasted is actually the cedar?

That may be, but if I compare the woodsy taste I tasted to the smell of the cedar in my humidor or the smell of aromatic cedar (or even of a pencil which is also made from cedar) I don't think that was what I was tasting. But then again, my palette has processed all of 4 cigars so far so who knows. Maybe it was.

Cedar seems to have a light smell to me and this was a very full set of flavors. But you know what, when wrapped up with all the tobacco, chocolate and spice flavors I was probably lucky that I could detect any wood flavor.

But boy, that was a nice cigar.
