I'm retired in the sense that retirement just means that I get to do what I want to do for a living. So I retired from a completely unsatisfying job as a computer programmer, moved to the mountains, and I now make my living two ways:

First, I'm a music teacher. I teach guitar, mandolin, banjo and mountain dulcimer.

Second, I'm a luthier. What's a luthier you ask? A luthier is a builder of string instruments. I build hand made mountain dulcimers, guitars, and mandolins. I've sold several of my dulcimers and I hope to be selling guitars soon.

I'm in my mid fourties and have been married just over a decade. I love living in the mountains where I can hike every day if I wanted to. It's a very different life than I had growing up in Southern California and I find that it suits me.
