Cigar lounge in your town?

So, I am wondering if any of you have cigar bars or lounges in your city? A place where you can buy a cigar and sit and smoke it if you like. Maybe enjoy a congac, beer or wine? I suppose you could also smoke pipes there and purchase pipe tobacoo? How many places do you have in your city like this? How long have they been around? Are they busy? Is it more public or private and small? What are their names? I heard of one place here in Calgary that didn't make it as a cigar lounge. It was called the Chameleon. I don't think that is a very good name for a cigar lounge, and it would hardly draw the right kind of business. I think it's still open as a wine lounge but the humidor is empty and dry:( I'm just wondering why there aren't more of these kinds of lounges?

We have one just like that back here in Manila. It's called Churchill's Cigars and Wine. A very cozy place, with dim lights, wooden interior, and soft leather couches. Perfect ambiance for unwinding and relaxing at the end of the day. Been there a couple of times to smoke a good cigar with some port or wine. I like it because the place is not too crowded. They sell only Cubans, and the selection is pretty good and plenty. They have a little walk-in humi where you could pick the smokes yourself. Some wines from Italy, France, Chile and Australia are available as well, along with some port, and spirits like cognac, brandy and whisky.

The place is not cheap, but if you're willing to splurge a bit and treat yourself to the good life, this cigar bar and lounge has it. :smiley1:

houston has a lot. not sure how many. at least 7.

San Antonio has at least one that I am aware of because I live close to it. Great selection of cigars...pretty much pay retail tho...but nice atmosphere.

There a plenty of cigar shops of varying quality and selection in the greater Sacramento area. (I live about 40 minutes north of Sac.)

As for cigar lounges . . . there are two that I know of but it has been years since I went to the one in downtown Sac. (Harlows) When I was there over 5 years ago it was a nightclub downstairs and a cigar lounge upstairs.

The one I frequent now is in Loomis, CA (about 20 minutes north os Sacramento) and it is called Tobacco Republic. Small place with a couple chairs and two soft leather sofas. It has a huge walk-in humidor . . . about the size of a large bedroom. Great selection (no cubans . . . damn the US policies :smiley19: ). The owner, Ron, is great and has taught me alot about cigars and the different kinds and flavors. Apparently he even owns a factory in the Dominican Republic! He has even given me free sticks on more than one occasion - very nice guy indeed!

I wish all of you were as lucky as I am to have a shop/owner in your area like Tobacco Republic and Ron.

I was reading last night about some cigar lounges that offer lockers for rent in their humidor! Thats a pretty neat idea!

yes they are pretty neat. and convenient. but prepare to shell out a lot of extra cash as they dont come cheap. our cigar bar here has one but the rental fee is way up high than the cost of the smokes i plan to put in them. :smiley26:

How big are the cigar lounges in your towns? Room for just a couch and a lazy boy or is it bigger, like a pub????

just big enough for a small walk-in humi, a small wine cellar, a bar, three tables with leather couches. nice n small n cozy.

two big couches, a big screen, and a walk in. not very big

The one near where I live is like a small pub and a small cigar shop connected together...quite roomy.

i don't have anything like that around where i live.

I feel bad when I hear other BOTL's have nowhere to go and smoke - especially in states that are highly restrictive of cigar smoking. I guess I'm lucky that I have the cigar store near me. I hate traveling out of town and trying to find someplace to go - it seems that there are many states and localities where cigar smoking is frowned upon.

I'm also lucky to have several restaurants, lounges and bars in close proximity that allow and encourage cigar smoking. There's a great bar/restaurant in Schaumburg, IL a group of us tend to frequent called "Fox and Hounds" - it's a cigar smokers paradise. Large leather couches and chairs, big screen TV's all over the place, pool, darts, and great food and drinks...

Place called Club Macanudo in NYC. Real nice place, have to be dressed up, can't BYOC though, have to buy your sticks there. I'm cool with that being the only indoor place to smoke though, honestly, even before the smoking ban, most places that allowed smoking did not allow cigar smoking.

That's really it for Manhattan though.

Must be a bunch of night owls here. :smiley16: My place is called Libations Too. It has plenty of leather chairs and sofas to relax on. They have a wide range of cigars that you can purchase, as well as just about any drink that you can think of. They have many copies of Cigar Aficionado to sit back and enjoy, as well as a great sound system that tends to favor smooth jazz. It's a public place, though the patrons of this place are not exactly your run of the mill Wal-Mart shoppers. You dress up to go to this place, otherwise you will truly stand out. :smiley14: They've been in business for quite awhile now, but with our new smoking ban in place, it looks as if the only smoking tha will be done there will be outside on the new deck that they have constructed for that purpose. :smiley6:

All of these are in the Detroit area in Michigan.

Sean O'Callaghans in Plymouth Actually an Irish pub, but sells cigars and lets you smoke whatever you want.

La Casa De La Habana in Plymouth They serve coffee, espresso and other coffee beverages as well.

Double Olive in Dearborn Old school martini bar. Do it up like a real swinger ;)

Along with a ton of cigar shops where you can sit and smoke for a bit.

There's a killer tobacconist in Mill Valley (about 25 min North of San Francisco) where I live. They have a wall humidor and a backroom, aging and stocking room. They have 4 big chairs, a big screen, and tons of magazines. They have at least 100 private lockers for rent. It's kindof intimidating, but you just want to go hang out there! Are you talking about Cigar Club? I'll be there Tuesday afternoon to "host" an out-of-towner.

The inside of the place could use a bit of a "facelift" but it's a very comfortable place to kick back with a smoke and a drink. :smiley20:

In Calgary there used to be a cigar lounge/club, but it shut down a number of years ago. Only place that I've heard of lately is ok with cigars the Inn on Crowhild lobby bar, but they don't do sales.

Currently I buy them at Cavendish and Moore in Penny Lane. Also I hit Sheffield and Sons for when I need one quick, they're cheaper than C & M. Looking for another source since my current favourite is a Montecristo no. 4 which runs about 19-21 bucks.

I am loyal only to Joseph at the Chinook Shefield and son. Go give him a try. I have been to all the other shops around and he keeps the best stock and the best humidity in my opinion :smiley20:

Thanks for the tip Roham, I'll check him out. My girlfriend lives that way and bless her, she doesn't mind cigar smoke at all.

There are two in close proximity to me. Both have lounges, the first is a lot better lounge with lotsa chairs, tv's, poker tables but you have to pay $750 per year to get a membership, which entitles you to the lounge, the BYOB bar and a locker in their humidor to store cigars.

The other one has great leather lounge chairs and a great TV and great staff. And no membership fee.

Guess which one I go to?

Great shop in Arlington Heights, IL just off NW Highway (it's either Arlington Pipe & Tobacco or Pipe & Cigars). Went in for the first time, huge selection, big lounge with comfortable leather chairs, and very friendly help. Been in Arlington Heights for 30+ years, Father and Son running it. They don't have Padrons yet, but they are getting them soon.

Check it out when you get the chance ggiese, or anyone else in the Northwest Chicago 'Burbs.

BTW - this Sunday, a bunch of us are getting together for a little herf action at the Fox and Hounds in Schaumburg. If anyone would like to join us, we're getting together at 1:00 p.m. Should be a great time! I'm going to post a seperate thread...

I'm new here, but there is a new smoke shop near my house. Its in Bedford NH and is called Blowin' Smoke. They seem to have a good collection of cigars. Also a nice lounge area.

There is one shop in Austin I know of that has a cool smoke lounge, but it costs $850 a year to join. I've been looking for somewhere like this to smoke and watch football without being nagged to death, anyone have any ideas?
