Quick question for those cigar veterans out there.
I read a report yesterday that was commenting on Macanudo cigars. It was talking about their mild nature and stated that these cigars wouldn't leave a bad taste in your mouth or "keep you up at night". My question is this. Why would any cigar "keep you up at night"? Any idea what exactly this would be referring to?
Welcome to the board. I'm not veteran enough to answer your question with authority. The only time I have personally stayed up late because of a cigar is when the cbid auction closes late at night.
As far as macanudo's go, I never noticed them having any taste at all. :smiley5:

And it appears stupid people also write reports. The only way a cigar will keep you up all night is if you drop it on the bed and your sheets catch on fire.

I Have had a cigar keep me up late before, but it was my own fault for lighting a bigass 8X60 stogie at 10:30 pm :smiley5:
I've only smoked one macanono, not a horrible cigar, but there are many FAR better smokes available for less coin.

Yeah I was thinking it might keep you up if you couldn't sleep because you wanted a cigar.
Welcome hendu3270! We will be glad to answer any questions we can. Most likely the reference to "keeping you up all night" suggests a very strong cigar that may give the smoker heartburn. Usually it is a combination of a big meal, and the strong cigar that creates the heartburn. Often experienced by the senior age group:smiley41:]
I would guess they mean you won't get a nic kick out of it, as they mentioned how mild (tasteless, lol) it is.

The only thing I didn't see here was you could get sick if you smoke a powerful smoke on a empty stomach. If you are not use to the smoke that is.

Because they probably use the same marketing company that does the work for NASCAR. I mean, how else could a race series that's famous only for loudmouths and left hand turns gain such a following???

I've never seen the appeal in NASCAR, but at the same time I've never gone to a race. I guess I'll suspend judgment.
I want to go to one of those European rallies where they are whipping through back roads and through the center of towns and stuff. They look pretty exciting.
Just don't stand near a corner. Those guys seem to get run over alot.
Newf's right there...marketing wasn't why all the NHL teams moved south, but it is part of the reason why the NHL is going in the tank.

PS - I never really got into NASCAR, but I do love a good rally/road race. F1, Le Mans, GT, Offroad rally, etc. But, I'm sure if you actually attend it in person, it's like any other sport, great to experience first-hand.
NASCAR is awesome in person, I used to live about a mile from Riverside Raceway, (road course in Cali, gone for over 20 years now), and more than one occasion I had tickets in the infield, and access to the bridge leading there, (right over the end of the back straightaway). The sound of 40 cars at top speed, only 15 feet below you is incredible :smiley3:

Thanks for the replys guys. I now know what that guy was referring to. I did smoke one a few nights ago that came in one of the samplers I bought. My personal opinion of this cigar is it seemed like I was smoking air. There was absolutely no taste at all. I'm new to cigar smoking, (smoked cigarettes for about 16 years and quit about 5 years ago), and definitely don't know that much about cigars but the cigars that I enjoy the most, (so far) are the fuller flavored ones. Maybe I started out on the wrong end of the flavor spectrum but I enjoy the flavor of 5 Vegas Series "A", Maxx by Alec Bradley and Indian Tabac Maduro. I've been wanting to try a "Graycliff Espresso" but read a couple of reports about them burning unevenly and not really being that good of a cigar.

The Espresso is ok but not worth the price. If the cigar was 6 or 7 bucks, instead of 20 or more, it would probably have a more favorable reputation.
Try a Sancho Panza Double Maduro. I think you will like it.
The Famous Maduritos are also pretty tasty. A real nice quick smoke.
Also look into some Don Kiki Brown labels. Hit me up with your addy and I'll send you a couple.

I've never had a Graycliff so can't comment on those, but Tyler speaks the truth with the SP Double Maduros. They may very well be one of the greatest deals out there in cigars.Quote:
