Hi there! I'm fairly new to cigars as well and a newbie to this site. I lol'ed when I read that you enjoy smoked meat. Perhaps you could try using some as a wrapper, might make for quite a tasteful cigar wouldn't you agree?

Welcome from another Iowa member. Which area are you in? You smoke as much of the cigar as you can but relighting isn't really the best. After you smoke a cigar you can't put it with your other cigars in the humidor as it will mess them up. This leads of course to the semi-smoked cigar drying out.

Ticker, it would be cool if you would rein some of this shit in, take a few days or even weeks and just read some old threads - cigar reviews, noob intros, troll roasts, etc., and get a feel for this site before you post too much more. A good rule, no, an excellent rule of thumb for noobs is to "read more, post less."

Thank you for the welcome. However, please don't concern yourself with my actions. I will read when I please and post when I please. I don't intend to become an expert overnight, nor do I ever. I simply enjoy learning about cigars and shooting the breeze with others alike.. and doing so on my own time. I think an excellent rule of thumb for senior members who let their post count get to their heads is that it is just a number and any member, regardless of his or her post count should be treated equally. I'm simply welcoming another new member like me, which I see nothing wrong with. Anyways, this thread is about welcoming gifters and not me, so let us not get off topic.

Yep, you're free to post what and when you wish. You will be held accountable for those posts though. Your tone directed at a senior member of this community is out of line, you should have taken the advice he gave you.

Arrogant and presumptious of you......here is where some serious reading would be to your advantage. You are wrong, all are not equal in this community. Post count means nothing, however, participation and tenure do.

There was no "tone" intended and I found his welcoming to be quite arrogant. That is how I percieved it as one human being speaking to another, without the supposedly social hierachy.

Intro thread was the first thing I did once I signed up. Apparently mods have to check it since it was my first post/thread I believe. Never gave my intro here, just said hi and said that I'm new as well. I'm no forum etiquette expert either, though I'm not big on hijacking other peoples thread. If you have more to share with me on this matter just hit me up with a PM or wait until my intro thread is open.

Ticker, if you like this forum, you need to thank guys like Basil and those other "senior members" that are your "equal" and have kept it free of asshats for many years. Remember that this is a member-moderated forum. No one here will take your side because of board "decorum." The board is what it is. If you take on the guys who keep it on a level keel you really don't stand a chance. For what it's worth, I found your post presumptuous for somebody with little or no history here. Not trying to get you going, I'm figuring (for now) it was an honest mistake. Just offering a word to the wise. I also would echo that you should post an intro thread so we can all get an idea of who you are. It's nothing that others haven't had to do.

Hi Shelby, I can understand where your coming from and appreciate your maturity. I'm not looking for anyone here to take my side or another, it's not like that at all. I also appreciate what the senior members have done for this forum, including Basil. I'm currently getting involved with the newbie Sampler thread which is something I know ashauler has put a lot of time and effort into to keep it running smoothly.

Likewise, I'm also not trying to get anyone going, but if I feel I'm being targetted unfairly, I will stand up for myself. I understand that you guys must get asshats on here, just like any other forum. The same goes for members who tend to let their post count get to their heads. Don't take that the wrong way, because I am not saying it applies to everyone with a high post count, not at all. But there are certain individuals like that. Luckily they are few and far between.

I will admit I could have left out that comment, so I apologize. But I will also say that I did not deserve the welcoming that I received nor the immature comments/name calling. I know many of you are friends and as such turn a blind eye to those comments and tend to only focus on what the new guy is doing wrong, I understand that. But it should never have to be a situation where a new member must earn his respect from others before being treated with it. Thats like saying all new immigrants to our country must earn our respect before being treated with it. That is no way to treat a fellow human being.

Like I've said, I've also attempted to make an intro thread but I received a pop up window when doing so which stated something along the lines that I had to wait for an admin to verify it first? However I may very well be remembering incorrectly. I will attempt to make a new thread shortly. I waited abit incase it took some time before it could be displayed to avoid making two of the same threads.

Again I apologize to anyone I've offended. If there is something I say that doesn't sit well with anyone, just let me know in a respectful manner and I will have no problem with that.
