I try and do that in the header info but sometimes forget (like w/ this recent one). It's mostly just so that I'm open about things. Also, it's because I make it clear through my posts that I am a value hunter and I am on a tight budget these days w/ a 1 year old--so, if I review a $21 Davidoff I'd like for people to realize I didn't spend this, for consistency reasons.

Do you particular thoughts on reviewing gifted smokes?

I have thoughts on transparency, which I think you have addressed.

Cool, thanks for prompting the conversation around this - the biggest thing for us is making sure we don't up a score to be on good terms with the provider...

Well, yeah, and your site supporters. That is exactly why I read and trust more reviews posted on the cigar forums that I belong to much more than any dedicated review site, not just yours.

I have found that if I know the person over time, get familiar with them through their interaction in the community, the reviews they provide are much more useful. Besides, they are here in the first place for the same reason I am.....to enjoy the brotherhood and share the hobby with others of like mind, not to smoke for free and/or get cool shit from manufacturers and brand owners.

yep; I review as much for myself as I do for others b/c of how much I appreciate finding a dud before I blow tight-cash on it...

If my only intention was to smoke for free I don't know that I'd ever really get to smoke what I want, and when I only have 1 night a week that the wife allows me to smoke w/ buddies these days, I'm going to smoke what I want to...
