I've been posting off and on since 2006, and I just now get harassed about an intro thread?

With all due respect for your sentiments, this is a pretty silly question. There is no such rule of "etiquette." There's only somebody who owns the cigars trying to run a business on the other end. We all support the troops but I think most of us also believe in free enterprise.

Bottom line is, bid. If you happen to win and the guilt becomes overwhelming, then send them to the troops.

I suppose I should clarify what I was doing. I was cruising cigarbid, hoping to snipe a few good deals just before they closed. This was a 5 pack that the winning bid was a dollar. I'm all about free enterprise, blah blah blah.... but if there's a Marine (or a solider) out there who is wanting to buy his own cigars and it looks like he's going to get a good deal, I just didn't want to be the one jacking up the price. Yes the guy could somehow be scamming and truly is sitting in San Diego relaxing, but since these weren't sticks I went out of my way to find I wasn't to concerned about it. I'm not saying that no one should bid against someone in the military, I have decided that I won't in most situations. Was curious what others would do.

I agree 100%, and I don't understand why it would be a problem. I pass out alot of good sticks to the Soldiers here on my FOB, but that's just me. If it's really a problem go get a tampon for your tears because there won't be any sympathy coming from me.

dauker - I know you know we know you - but - an intro thread for the newer members sure would be awfully nice...

...unless, of course, you want for THIS to be your intro thread. In that case - I'm fairly certain you will get that "award" you so richly deserve!!!
