I had that RyJ the other night... I think it was too tightly packed it was a hassle to keep lit, and spicy through the entire smoke. It was one of those rare cigars that I couldn't wait to finish.
Tonight I had one of my My Father Cigars, Flor de las Antillas. I love this stick, Def in my top 10, It is a medium bodied cigar but has such a complex flavor, unlike the above mentioned cigar, this one I burn my fingers on cause I don't want it to quit.

I had a very sublime experience this afternoon with a Johnny O Laquito No 2.
To the brother who shared that with me (you know who you are...) You owe me a pair of socks - they were knocked off so badly, I can't find them anywhere.![]()

NUB Habano 466 for the 1st half of the 1st playoff game today. Ring gauge is a little much for me, but a really good smoke.
Opus X Beli for the 2nd half of the 2nd playoff game today. Excellent in every way.
I'm very happy with the outcome of the games too. I'm pulling for Denver in the Super Bowl.![]()

Opus 5 with daydrunk. He's having an 858 SG.
Monte "A" and a little remy xo last night. I really enjoy this cigar. The only downside I can say about this stick, and it may just be my luck, is that ive yet to have one thats draw wasnt overly tight for at leaat the first half. That aside, was an
excellent experience. Total smoke time = 2rs 25min.

All large cigars are disappointing to me for the exact same reason. One of my most memorable "bad" experiences was a birthday steak dinner with my wife followed by a Opus X Double Corona. The steak dinner was out of this world - but I'd best describe the Opus X as mediocre for exactly the same reason you describe. Kinda brought the night crashing down, quite honestly. Spent the rest of the night cursing I'd chosen that particular cigar to finish off my night...
But I've come to realize that a big huge cigar like that is not all it's cracked up to be. I've rarely found a footlong cigar I've enjoyed. Plus - they're hard as heck to store and keep from being damaged. My suggestion - next time smoke a lancero.
That said... I just picked up a few Opus X Double Corona's. I'm curious if they're any better than that last time. We shall see...

Opus perfecxion #2 - one of my absolute favs. Was given to me to smoke with a close buddy in honor of his 12th anniversary. Wasnt expecting it, so It was a very welcome surprise. I did however learn that, as much as I love a good aged opus, and as many dimensions of happyness it can bring, it still has its limitations.
#1 - if you smoke it outside tonight as I did - it offers absolutely no comfort of warmth whatsoever. None.
#2 - neither coconut water or cranberry juice are acceptable drinks to accompany this cigar. I could not tell you at this moment why it was even conceived that those 2 particular beverages were considered as the perfect mate for this stick. Everyone apparently doesn't know that opus prefers to be smoked with a capri sun. Let your pal know hes treading on shaky ground for not knowing the dark secrets of opus smoking.
#3 - no matter how magical this cigar can be to the smoker...it has pretty much no effect on your significant other if your late getting home and they had plans for the evening. Not that you were instructed of this in advance. I mean I was actually told "it was just a cigar - that I smoke cigars all the time, couldn't I have just put it out and finished it tomorrow?" As if I had all sorts of cigars half smoked and saved for a rainy day....
Aside from those few wee little kinks to get over - I was extremely pleased with it.
