I think the wall of shame should just be for people with bad trades. By in large Scum bag losers etc could take on a subject feel even maybe a click mentality. If the board decides someone isn't right for this board then they can banned that person as we have seen done here. Putting their name and address up on the wall of shame is going to cause a lot of trouble because not everyone will agree. But if someone is a bad trader then having that person name and address up on the board is a good reference for members and something that has factual bases. Just my 2 cents

Agree, 100%. For instance, bigpappapuff showed his ass over here, but he doesn't belong on a wall of shame. If someone disagrees, then it quickly becomes political. Trolls have a way of being found out and are dealt with accordingly by whatever board they may drift to, and, provide some entertainment along the way.

Bad traders on the other hand should be outed and others (including other boards) should be warned before they can con folks out of their money/cigars. Subjective opinions are pretty much a non-issue with this group.

Well, these guys (Theycallmemanix was one we disembowled) are pretty recognizable as drooling idiots fairly soon, and they bring no real harm to anyone. Not to trivialize the heinous transgression that is bigotry, racism, and other hatreds aimed at a fellow human being, but this is actually a pretty weak missile when one of these fuckwads launch, and the thing always comes back around and blows up in their face. I think they create their own hell and pretty much live there.

Not really seeing the Wall primarily as a punishment - hell, they all deserve each others' company as punishment. But I am thinking it is something that creates an environment; like a head on a pike that marks a boundary that says, "Thieves, cheaters, liars, etc. simply will not be tolerated and if you scam this board, you can't remain anonymous behind a screen name because your real fucking name and address will be posted for anyone to see so it will be more difficult for you to steal from other boards"

I don't see a problem with the wall being for both trolls and cheaters if it is used going forward. It's been so long since we've had a troll and there has only been one time (2 cases) where people actually disagreed (CoventryCat and Bigpoppa). So, if this list is used just going forward and all past cases are covered with a link to Moki's list, then I think we'll be just fine.

Troll: an attention whore with a sense of self that relies on having its name out where all can see it in order to survive. Doesn't matter if it's negative or positive, as long as there's a light shining on it, the troll thinks it's winning. The troll's nightmare? Being buried and forgotten.

Scammer: A petty fucking cheating thief who relies on the shadows of anonymity for survival. The scammer's worst case scenario? Having his sorry ass dragged out into the light of day and ripping the mask off.

Any way you label someone a troll or a scumbag you have to be subjective. If you imply someone's real name and address to the wall of shame without factual information you are leaving this board open to an internet cigar board war, and maybe something worse for the person who runs the board. We all know that some people who have big shipping issues have the cigars sent to other places. Let's say we get a guy new to us but not new to Cb's he makes friends fast he tells the person where to ship his trade with a name that is not his but lets say the trade goes is just find. He comes back in a month later acting like a jerk gets the board's panties in a bunch and he is now labeled as a troll. So the guy that did the trade with him states ya I know his real name and address and it's put up. Five months later the true guy finds out his name and address is up on the board maybe the guy is even in sales. He states that he now knows why business has been so bad in the past 5 months, whether it true or not and blames this all on his name and address wrongly being place on this board. Think about what could happen. Most of the trolls are not doing a whole lot of trading so the names they give are gonna be false which is scary. People you believe to be scumbags could be excellent traders but have a different value of life then you do. If you do not want to trade with a KKK member then do not trade with people you really do not know. I was called a troll by silent chambers when I first came to this board. Some of you still may think I am a troll because of my non smoking status. I have just watched a lot of click behavior turn into consensus and I am talking across Cb's. You all may think I am just a stupid girl but I am going forward saying.... I strongly object to names and addresses ever placed on the wall of shame unless it concerns taking cigars or money and not upholding their end of the bargain, in a reasonable amount of time.

The names and addresses would only be necessary for scammers/moochers etc... It was never suggested to post addy's of people who were just trolls/racists/human filth in general.

There's no worry of any kind of board war since the politics section has been booted. Since then the only kind of trolls we've had are...well, I can't really remember any since we booted the politics section.

So I'm still down with having trolls and scammers.

Plus, if we make this list only have 1 post, the first post, only editable by Roham and Hex, then we avoid all issues of people just being able to randomly post anybody they think as a troll or scammer. In other words, a sticky is created that is a locked thread and only has 1 post which contains a list of the most recent and all future scammers/trolls. For all past instances, a link to Moki's site is put in. This satisfies everybody to the greatest degree possible.

I agree with this. Scammers, proven scammers that are documented on the various boards, need outed in the most public and individual way possible and shared for all to see. These people are a real danger to the community as a whole regardless of which board they are exposed on.

Trolls, bigots, racists, and just general phucktards are usually identified by the FOGs pretty easily, brought to the boards attention.........then played with like a cat toy and disposed of when everybody gets bored by simply ignoring them or banning. The banned member list is a good resource to identify them.

That way we don't re-invent the wheel, this board is somewhat insulated from any potential consequences, and we do utilize the list exactly the way it was intended - refer to it from this board, and thereby offer a measure of protection to those who would unwittingly attempt to trade with a known scammer.

Again, trolls live to see their names in print - they get off on it. IMO, we would actually be feeding the trolls by putting their names - screen, real, or aka - on this board permanently. Let the trolls die an anonymous death and good riddance. If they re-incarnate, shoot one leg off and let 'em bleed out.

Yeah, after giving it some thought, thats probably the best thing to do. While these sort of lists are helpful, its probably best left for sites that specialize in those sorts of things.
