Well being a Japanophile and married to a Japanese girl, I am fluent in Japanese, so I often pick Japanese names. My name means "Cigar Fool, or Foolish for Cigars" in that language, though technically the word for Cigar is Hamaki.
There's only two kinds of cigars, the kind you like and the kind you don't.

Vitale is my last name. I am a second generation Italian/Sicilian born in Washington state. I usually yank people's chains by telling them that my grandfather came to New York from Sicily and got mixed up in the mob, I then tell them that my father wanted out of the family business, so he moved to Washington, changed his name (although keeping it Italian), and married my fully German mother. And then I tell them it never happened. LOL.

Hey what is your dissertation about? I studied philosophy too at Uni and absolutely loved it. Mine was on the Kantian Sublime.

My screen name is pretty obvious really so not sure I need to explain it....

As a teenager I was painfully thin.
My uncle nicknamed me "heavy", the name stuck.
Now, twenty years later the name descibes me prety well.

Nothing special, my name is Eric Shaw, and I used Eshaw for an e-mail account I set up back in 1999, hence the 99. I no longer have the e-mail address, but I've always used the name for message boards and online poker.
Have you ever thought about maybe turning off the TV, sitting down with your kids...and hitting them?
