    Default my first humidor

    Hey guys

I was wondering what anyone thought about this starter humidor.

I order one of these already. After reading some, I hear that cedar is the way to go. I bought the 15 cigar version. So I would keep it for travel. I'm looking for one for my home.

I read about making a coolidor. However, I don't have the room in my apartment for something that size.

I also looked through the other "my first humidor threads" and saw there are some sites that offer sample sets with a humidor? Anyone have some experience with how these hold up?

    Thanks in advance.

I got my first from cubancrafters.com that came with a sampler of Don Kiki cigars. Cigars are pretty good. Please note that this humi is sitting on the bar with 0 smokes in it. I have a trunk almost crammed full and another display humi.

Trust us, you'll outgrow it in 2 weeks. Maybe look into a tupperdore, that way you could slide it under your bed.

I started out with a 20 count humidor from a local shop. Within a month or so I had ordered some beads and pulled out the cooler that I used to use for camping, it's small by the sites standards, 48 qt IIRC. I also have a nice 50 count that's sitting out.

Both are full. I'm looking for another cooler and I'll get more beads.

So, like everyone will tell you, find the largest one you think you'll need and get the one that's twice the size. And some beads from Heartfelt.

this might be a good idea. I imagine it's the same as setting up a coolirdor. Is there anything different about setting up a tupperdoor I would need to know?

I'll take this into account. I'm limited on space at the moment but I'll see what I can come up with.

    Thanks for the input guys.

    Cheers.

Before I got into the cooler, I picked up a 100 ct humidor on ebay for around 30 plus shipping. The seal was fine, and it was serviceable. I ended up giving it to a friend who is still using it.
I still use the 50 count my brother gave me when I started into cigars for those "special" cigars.

    Sweet! I'm so psyched.

I found on cheap humidors.com the imperfect selection. which are only imperfect due to nicks and scratches. They have 100ct ones for about 40 bucks. I'm going to check ebay this afternoon. If not, at least the 15 ct travel one should be at my house today.

    thanks guys.

wow. I'm strangely attracted to this.

Ok. Humidity beads; are these to replace the 50/50 solution put in a humidifier? And if so, I would need a seperate container for distilled water i would guess, because I think the bead absorb the water to regulate the humidity. And how do I know which to get 60, 65 or 70% Rh. I cant find if this is what it absorbs or when it stops absorbing.

("edit*)Never mind, I found my answer about how to use the beads. But still not sure how to choose the Rh value.

(*edit*)found the answer I was looking for about the Rh. I should probably get back to work...

I just ordered the blue humidor. I couldn't find an all white one, which I would really like to have. It has space for up to 100 sticks. I also grabbed a digital hydrometer with it. I didn't order the heartfelt beads yet, because the humidor comes with a HUMI-CARE Crystal Humidifier Gel.

I am planning on getting the hearfelt beads, but I wanted to see what Rh the humidor balances out to before choosing the Rh of the beads. Anyone have an opinion on the tubes vs the puck? According to the site there's no real difference other then shape. I'd like to optimize my usage of space if they both work equally well.

I'm also going to buy a nice double blade straight cutter today from the tobacco shop because my cheapo free one broke last night. I'm thinking about picking up a Palio if the shop has one (which the palio website states is a retailer).

Other then that, I'm going to pick up some new cigars tonight or tomorrow to try something new over the weekend. I'll let you guys know what I grab and what I thought of them.

    Cheers!

Very Pretty Box, You'll love it!
Be sure to take your time seasoning that bad boy, your cigars will thank you!

I prefer tubes to the puck, get a couple, and keep one in the bottom, and one in the tray.

I have a Palio, they are outstainding cutters, lifetime warranty. I also have a Xikar, but the Palio gets way more useage
