And group projects are much harder than they are ever worth. I got burned in every single group project I participated in sans one in grad school. Too much bullshit, and the prof never cares that any group member is a flake.
I did not go to college until I was in my late 20's. I got a part time job at the college in the computer lab. It was a way I could work on my homework and still get paid. It was the hardest thing I ever had to do but it clearly showed me what I am capable of doing. If I had to work a normal 40 hour a week job I really do not think I could of done as well as I did. I graduated with a 3.8 grade point average and I was hired to work at the place I last internship with for school. So all in all going back to college is certainly worth the struggles. Keep up the good work!![]()

Group projects have a purpose in fostering/developing teamwork and leadership. They also make it easier for the prof. to grade the class. Even with a two person group, they now have half the grading to do. It also raises the average grades in the class. I think they are a good tool when used properly. Excessive use can lead to frustrated acheivers feeling like they are carrying under-achievers on their backs, and a general cheapening of the earned grade.

When I was in engineering classes - EVERYTHING we did was a group project - homework, take home tests, projects, etc. It appeared to me to be a bunch of shell shocked rats clinging to a scrap of wood during a flood...![]()
In the last full semester! Only 6 classes to go! Still straight A's! One of those classes will roll into the first half of next semester. Graduation in May!

Right on brother!! Congrats on the straight A's.![]()
Well, here I am in the last class (World Civ). I needed an elective and the choices were limited. I thought this would be interesting. Uggghhhh! Piles of homework! None of it is extrememly difficult, just tedious and time consuming. I'm typing 6-8 pages of mandatory notes this week over reading assignments and handouts, plus doing a presentation.
I think the biggest problem is that, being my last class, my motivation is a bit weak. I should graduate with a GPA of 3.92. Good enough work for a 40 year old student I guess. Gotta set the standard for the young punks you know!![]()
