Thanksgiving Writing Contest Entries

Thank you for your inspiration to give thanks.
It’s a cheerful thought for this time of year,
But after hours and hours of intense deliberation,
I’m starting to realize that it should have been clear.

I don’t have anything to be thankful for!
My IRA’s have shrunk at least 30 percent,
Stocks and funds that should make me rich,
Are now worth less than I what I originally spent.

I don’t have anything to be thankful for!
My house is aging and needs some repair.
My skin is wrinkling and my joints are aching.
I lost the only picture of when I still had hair.

I don’t have anything to be thankful for!
Sunday drives in the country are no longer advised.
What with road rage and the price of gas
We’ll just walk around the block and get exorcised.

No, that’s not a typo, our new neighbors are strange.
They burn a lot of candles and chant sometime.
Their dogs bark way too much at night.
If they would just move away we’d all be fine.

Oh well, it’s not too bad after all I guess.
I’ve made some new friends at CigarSmokers.com.
They’re miles away but that doesn’t matter.
The sneaky bastids will still drop a bomb.

I’m feeling better now that I’ve vented!
My health is okay and I’ve got food on the shelf.
I might not be living up to Trump’s standards,
But that’s alright, I have to live with myself.

After all this complaining and bitching and such,
I’ve done some soul searching and looking about.
I really don’t have any reasons to complain,
When so many others have been doing without.

Its only been a year, but it feels like a life time
In a good way, you help me win like a life line
Always knowing exactly what to say at the right time
Always calling the perfect play with the right lines
And for all the things you do, I have to thank you
There hasn't been a question that CS hasn't handled
Cigars definitely keep me out of depression
And the only way I've grown is from your infinite lessons
That help make this hobby extremely pleasant
Especially from your always flawless suggestions
So for Thanksgiving I have to give you a Thank You
From the ashes in my ashtray, until I'm ashes on a mantel
