Groomsmen Gifts

Hello everyone... First post...

I am getting married soon and I want to get my Groomsmen Humidors and some cigars as their gifts... I think I know what I want to get them; I have it down to 2 humidors. But I would like some input...

Some things to keep in mind:
- All of them are noobs (They have all smoked a cigar from time to time but are by any means experts)
- I want to get them a humidor for under $50.00
- I really don't think they need a big humidor (10-20 cigar) because I would be surprised if they had more than 3 cigars in there at a time.
- I don't want to buy crap, if sub $50 humidors are garbage there isn't really a point, but I am not expecting the best either.

The only problem I see with the second humidor is, it says it comes with a Humidifier but I do not see it in the picture. Where would it be? would it be an eye sore (because its a glass top) or is it hidden?

And the first humidor is clean and classy but it isn't Spanish Cedar. Does that make a big enough difference?

If you think there is a better humidor I can get on the web for a good price please recommend it, just keep in mind my points above.

I am also wanting to get into cigars so I will be buying myself a humidor too.

The only thing I can say is the description of the first one is a little bit disturbing... "You can use it as your everyday desktop humidor, or throw it in a suitcase for cigars on the go. And thing about this. When you smoke all the cigars inside, it makes a great place to store all the free shampoos you took from the hotel."





If they don't smoke cigars get them a whiskey shot bottle they can keep in their jacket when they go to work

Or an engraved cigar cutter with a nice cigar. Better then a old dried up shampoo storage box....

Yeah, I kind of agree. Why get noobs nice cigars and a humidor? What if they drop the hobby? Out goes your gift. Go with other "guy" things, like flasks or knives. They're a bit more universal, will be appreciated much on down the road, and you'd be able to get good ones for the cost of cheap humidors and cigars. I got my groomsmen KA-BAR bowie knives, and just had plenty of cigars available at the bachelor party.

Humidors are great gifts.


I personally like this one the best out of all the small < $ humidors. The capri glasstop is by far the most popular though.

As with many things, there are humidors, humidors, and humidors. Whether those are crap or not depends on what you think a humidor is, and should do. I think both of those are MDF (Medium-Density-Fiberboard) boxes made pretty with some veneer. Whether that veneer is spanish cedar or not is just to impress people - most of the reasons for using spanish cedar are lost when it is just a veneer.

If you're set on humidors, then consider hard-case travel humidors, e.g., http://stores.cigarsolutions.com/Cat...ravel+Humidors or http://www.cigarsinternational.com/p...CIEG28&cat=161 Sure, they don't look as nice, but they actually work, will still be useful if the person gets into cigars, and will be useful even if they never smoke a cigar again.

Another groomsmen's gift is a Leatherman or similar multi-tool (assuming no cultural prohibition on sharp objects).

Thanks guys.... Couple of things...

The reason I wanted to get the Humidors was because ever other wedding I have gone to in the past couple of years, the groomsman got engraved flasks....

But I like the idea of a good cigar and an engraved cutter...

Also I thought that the Humidor would be a nice piece of furniture, but if a $30.00 humidor is just a glorified cardboard box, it's not worth it.

BTW, for gift cigars, cigars in metal or glass tubes are good, and can survive quite well without being in a humidor. For example, La Aurora Preferido's or Partagas Serie P No 2 in tubes look cool to me, and are excellent smokes.

Best $15 cutter IMHO is the Cuban Crafters Perfect Cut, e.g., http://www.cigarmony.com/index.asp?P...ROD&ProdID=676 There is another round style as well. This is an excellent design of cutter for newbies - anyone, really - and give lots of surface on the back for an engraver to use.

Id get them nice Xikar cutters. Lifetime warranty, no receipt needed. Lots of space to engrave upon... Generally a great company and cigar cutter. Then a nice cigar. They can keep the cutter forever. Use it when needed. It even comes with a free sheath!!!

It's funny you started this thread because I am getting married in Sept. and I am having the same problem. I was going to do the same thing and get a humidor and some smokes for each person as well. Most of the guys in my wedding smoke cigars but not as regularly as I do, and some of them don't smoke much at all. So my problem is, if I were to get a nice cutter for each of them, some of them still wouldn't use it very often because they don't smoke enough. I have also been in two weddings where I got an engraved flask. So, now I have two engraved flasks. I'm trying to do something unique so I could use all the help you guys can offer! Thanks!

P.S. I'm already planning on getting a load of smokes for the Bachelor party and for post-wedding.

Flasks are a good gift IMHO. Something a person would never buy themselves, but find plenty of use for! Give them the flasks and a small bottle of their fav spirits! I realize you said they all received flasks already from another wedding.

Outside of that, if they all smoke, pocket cigar cases with the built in DG cutter are nice.

For those less inclined towards vices, pocket knives/tools are good. Don't be scared to get different gifts for different groomsmen depending on their personal tastes.
