As with many things, there are humidors, humidors, and humidors. Whether those are crap or not depends on what you think a humidor is, and should do. I think both of those are MDF (Medium-Density-Fiberboard) boxes made pretty with some veneer. Whether that veneer is spanish cedar or not is just to impress people - most of the reasons for using spanish cedar are lost when it is just a veneer.
If you're set on humidors, then consider hard-case travel humidors, e.g., http://stores.cigarsolutions.com/Cat...ravel+Humidors or http://www.cigarsinternational.com/p...CIEG28&cat=161 Sure, they don't look as nice, but they actually work, will still be useful if the person gets into cigars, and will be useful even if they never smoke a cigar again.
Another groomsmen's gift is a Leatherman or similar multi-tool (assuming no cultural prohibition on sharp objects).
