I was reading this month's Real Beer News and remembered SOMEONE around here drinks Ommegang...

Brewery Ommegang in Cooperstown, N.Y., can't make enough beer, so has
turned to its "parent" - Duvel Moortgat in Belgium - for help. Moortgat
recently began brewing Ommegang's flagship Ommegang Ale for sale in 750ml
bottles in the United States, and will continue to do so until Ommegang's capacity
catches up with demand. The first shipments have reached Ommegang's
East Coast warehouse and bottles should be on the West Coast by Sept. 22.
Brewery Ommegang will continue to make Ommegang Ale to be sold in 12-ounce
bottles and occasionally in kegs as well as the range of beers it has added
since first brewing Ommegang Ale in 1997. Athough Ommegang expanded capacity
40% in 2005, rising demands means that production of the 750s of Ommegang Ale
in Belgium may continue through 2006.

I noticed our Trader Joe's carries that brand of scotch, I'll definitely have to check it out!

You should check out the Glenmorangie line of scotches. Someone gave me a bottle of the 18 year old as a gift (I'm sure the 12 is good too) and we taste tested it with his 18 year old Macallen's....and personally, I thought the Glenmorangie was better!

You boys want to try a good vodka? Check out Ciroc...that stuff is money!!!!

Another good one is the premium Stoli...smoooth. Affordable at a bar ($8 for a martini), but the bottle price is pretty insane (I think it's about $50-$60).

Cooler months: A good single malt Scotch (Highland Park 18 yo or Lagavulin 16 yo), or a bourbon (Maker's Mark) manhattan.

Warmer months: A negroni (equal parts gin, campari and sweet vermouth) or a hearty beer.

I've had cigars with white wine and gin martinis, and they don't seem to work well together.

Port and cognac also seem like they would work.
