This might have been covered in the past, but can you help rate the "store brands" (JR alts, I heard Thompsons aren't good, etc)?

Welcome! As stated, JR ultimates are pretty tasty. Thompson's isn't the greatest but I recommend the Iguana maduro(not candela!) for you to try.
