    Talking Salt as a humidifer?

i have been thinking about this for some time (probably a dangerous thing). If a person uses salt and a little bit of water to calibrate a device that measures humidity, and if the salt / water combination creates an atmosphere of 70% RH, could a person use salt in a humidor or a humi bag for a temporary solution? Would a person use regular table salt or rock salt? That is my question. Looking forward to your responses. Roger

Salt is caustic. I keep reef aquariums, and am constantly dealing with salt creep. Salt is carried on water vapor and deposited on nearly all surfaces. Bad for cigars.

Let alone the fact that salt stabilizes at 75% rh.. much too high for cigars.

No. Salt releases humidity at 75% rh, not 70.....so it would be too humid an environment for my cigars, if you prefer it that high then YMMV.

    Table salt.

Talking Thanks for screwing my head on right!

Well what can I say DUH! Ok thank you guys for your help on that one. It seemed like a good solution to me at first, but it is obviously not going to be a good thing to try. Thanks. Roger
