Thread: Rh at different levels inside humidor

Default Rh at different levels inside humidor

I got a 150ct humidor filled w/ about 140 cigars on two different levels of a humidor that's about 10" deep. I have the digital hygrometer on top the cigars on the upper level, and 1/2 lb of 70rh heartfelt beads on the bottom shelf.

the calibrated hygrometer is reading 68rh on the top shelf, but wanted to know if the humidity at the bottom shelf is higher or lower than the top shelf? or if 10" is too shallow to have "bands" of humidity level?

    Thanks

I really wouldn't worry about it in a humidor that size...

get into tower sized boxes and it's a different story, but normally not a huge problem!

My humidor is almost a foot tall. It has a analog hygrometer on top of the box. It's pretty much always wrong, as I've determined that it measures humidity at the top of the box, and not actually inside of the humidor, even though there is a hole where it looks like it would conceivably accurately measure humidity levels. I left it on there, but simply for aesthetic reasons. I have another, properly configured hygrometer inside.

It sounds like you need to fire up a few of those bad boys and free up a little space!

There are several good threads by some of our resident experts that discuss humidity management. You may want to rotate your stock occasionally, and consider how much air space you leave. Just my 0.02...
