    Default Refrigerator Code

On my refrigerator there's an LCD display that give you the temperature of the freezer, the refrigerator and a few other things. The little ice cube tells you the ice maker is on and the bell tells you the 30 second bell warning system is activated if you leave the door open too long. There's one above the ice cube that lights up with a little wrench telling you that there's a problem with the refrigeration system. Today though, a strange one showed up above the bell, here's a photo.

Anyone know what it means? I can't even figure out what it's supposed to be a picture of...

I imagine you have already checked the manual. My guess is that it is telling you that there is a fire on the top of the refrigerator which is causing the ice in the freezer to melt. You may want to extinguish the fire.

All three guesses are good! Can you get ice and water though the door? It sure appears to be telling you that water is dripping though a square thing, maybe because it is too hot or maybe it's just telling you its time to change the filter the water drips though. In any event, I put out the fire first.

In my experience the stove speaks a different dialect and thus is not a reliable translator. I have have better luck asking the dishwasher, avoid asking the microwave though cause he's a little punk and will give you the wrong information on purpose.

I think it means you paid too much for the fridge and it doesn't even have a sexy voice to tell you what is going on.

I love this place! I did indeed check the owners manual and it explained some of the codes in one place but not all of them. When Kevin suggested the water filter, we looked at that part of the manual and sure enough, the explanation was there and that's what it was. George, the refrigerator is a Sub-Zero BI-42SD. The freakin' filters cost $50.00and they say they only last a year. Ours only lasted eight months but we use the water through the door more than average.

Thanks everyone for your help and all the laughs.

Personally, Bill, I believe you have found out why it's probably not the best move to ask about your refrigerator on a Cigar board...

I, for some strange reason, believe you would have gotten a much more lucid answer if you'd have posted a similar question on an appliance repair forum. Although - I have to admit the responses here have been much more entertaining!

If you can find and appliance repair forum, please let me know. The only ones I found are where you post your question and the next thing they ask is "How much do you want to pay for an answer?" I looked at a couple of the so-called" answers from those pieces of $hit that provide answers for money and they spew BS like "Your question is as clear as mud." for which the person who posed the question was charged $15.00 for that.
